Winter Poem

Found this old post from 2/1/10 It seemed like a good time to repost it.
When my Dad passed away I lost my ability to write poems.
My head was in a cloud of depression and then my Moms health declined and I was taking care of her and the Princess. I was so busy I didn't know what was even going on for the most part.
I hope to be able to write poems again someday...but for now here is an old one. Enjoy!

A sunny mist,
A winter twist,
It makes me breathe,
I can not grieve,
For what once was,
Or,
May have been,
I must move on,
And,
Try again,
Sow fresh seeds,
Lay roots down,
Dig and rake,
On new,
Fresh ground,
Water,
Fertilize,
Prune,
Mow,
I can not wait,
To watch,
Them grow.

Getting Ready For Spring

Cleaning up the Winter mess is always a lot of work around here. I worked all morning got one area all done. There is still a pile of stuff to do to get ready for Spring. Today it is overcast. All week it was around 80 degrees here. Such weird weather for Winter. LOL
Anyhow, I had a couple things that looked cool. One is my float fish. I noticed after cleaning up around him, that he had turned bluish.  He is a copper toilet float fish. I am happy to see he is finally turning blue.

The other is my sink fountain. The plants have filled in so nice around it. It is all ready to go.

Have a great Friday!

Urns

Found these beauties at a wonderful repurposing/thrift/antique mall. I saw a post online and told my hubby I really wanted them for my Anniversary/Valentines present(-:
They are huge. 3 feet tall and 20 inches wide. Very old and well loved.
They are going to be awesome next to the front door.
I am thinking spider plants inside.
Or maybe a fern. Not sure yet.
So excited to see them all set up.
Thanks Hubs.(-:

Cherubs

Just in time for Valentines Day.
Stopped by an antique and gift store last week in Willows, CA and spotted these cherubs for around 30 dollars each. I thought that was to pricey.
That was not the only reason I didn't buy them. The two ladies working there were complete snobs. I refuse to be treated like a second class citizen so I left.
I won't be going back.
Why do some people act that way?
Bad way to run a business that's for sure.
Anyhow...
I came home and Sunday went by Tuesday Mornings.
They had the same cherubs for under 15 dollars.
Score!
Love them!

They have more cherubs there in different styles.
I always forget to check there. There is a lot of Easter stuff out already too!

Fun At The Creek

Tuesday was a fun day to head to the creek with a bbq and bbq forks. We grilled some hotdogs and s'mores. It was a fun day.

Around The Yard

The Princess was here Monday so we were outside most of the time. The weather is so nice here.  It is suppose to be 78 degrees today. I know it is Winter! Weirdness for sure, but we are enjoying spending as much time outside as we can before Winter returns.(-:
I thought I would grab some pictures while the sun was shining and things were not looking to shabby!
The beach garden is looking pretty good. Seems like most of my plants are growing again after the long Winter months.

A skull on the beach? Why not!

The Hubby's fountain I got last year is doing great! It has been a very nice addition. Read about it here

My Mom's turtle. Still growing moss on it. It likes living at my house I guess.

This little rock was actually found at the creek today. I thought I would bring him home and add him to my collection.
Do you see a face?

New Lamp Base Repurposed

My brother got me this lovely lamp base in the recycling bin. It was actually the whole lamp, but I removed the light part and spray painted the base. It works perfectly for a little pedestal for my lighted ball.

With out the light on

And with light on.
