Are you picky when it comes to pots to hold your most loved plant possessions?

I love a good pot for my African violets and other house plants.

I shop around for something special for each of them.

A couple weeks ago I traveled to a nursery about 1.5 hours south of me and bought some really nice pots for my house plants. 

Yes, green is my favorite color.

When I got home I was sorry I did not purchase a few more, so I went on Amazon and looked and sure enough they had some, so I ordered two more.

Amazon is always my first choice of shopping, because I have Prime and shipping is free.

Plus in two days it is here! Win! Win!

Usually they have everything. It is amazing! I love that place and I am addicted.

Is there a 12 step program for Amazon addiction?

Anyhow back to the pots...

When they arrived they were TRASH!

Chips and runs and splotches etc.

Far from the quality of the pots I bought at the nursery.

I am super picky when I am spending 27.00 dollars a pot!

If they were a dollar per pot then that would be acceptable, but not 27.00!

My first thought was that they were seconds.

I filed a return and they said to get a refund I would need to return it. So I did. They asked if I wanted to replace the ones that were defective and I thought sure why not.

This was just a freak thing and the next order would be perfectly awesome right?

WRONG!

They arrived BROKEN!

I didn't even take them out of the box!

What to do?

Get out the super glue?

That was a negative from me...

Again I had to return them...

So ughhhhhhhhh!

And yes I was upset.

Usually Amazon says throw away and they refund or send another.

Nope! I had to go out in the 108 degree heat to mail them back!

One shipment I could say oh well, but two?

I did write to www.chive.com to voice my concern. 

They answered saying that was 

not normal. 

They said they design everything and it is shipped out from Amazon.

A tricky way of saying...we send a design to China and they make it and ship it to Amazon.

All these pots I bought on Amazon said they were made in China. 

The ones from the nursery I went to just said Chive.Com on the bottom of the pot.

No made in China was mentioned.

Just in case you were wondering.

Maybe originally they were all made in Canada or U.S.A.?

Anyhow...

At the same time as I ordered the one order, I also ordered from another seller on Amazon.

Those two pots were perfect and cheaper @ 17.00 each.

So maybe the one seller is selling knock offs?

It isn't that I mind paying a lot, but from China I do.

Actually, I have seen better pots at the Dollar Store.

Sorry for the rant...but I just had to get that off my chest.

What better way then to complain here...😁

Surviving the Heat

Two more days of this extreme heat. Hope everything survives.

Crossing fingers, praying etc.

I hate when we have a heat wave this early in the season. Ughhhhhhhh

Anyhow this is what is going on today.

 I got these two head planters on Zulily.

I didn't really like them once I got them. The color is painted on.

So...

I did some mosaic on them.

Still am not  crazy about them, but they will work.

 I felt like it was time for a toilet update.

Yes the pump is working...just not at this moment because the sun has not hit the charger.

I like the solar pump, but then again I don't like it.

It is only on when the sun is hitting the solar panel.

Maybe I need to move the panel.😎

Staying Cool

This lady head planter looks like she is hunkered down keeping cool.

Even this little snake is trying to stay cool. 

It's supposed to be 112 degrees by the weekend. I'm staying inside. 🤪

House plants

Has anyone started adding massive amounts of green to their home? Since the stay at home order I started adding indoor plants to my collection. I have always had several plants in the house including violets. I enjoy my violets and have had several over the years. I have never had trouble growing them. Lately though I have seen really nice plants at local nurseries and stores. So I decided to add a few of them to try. So far so good on keeping them alive. I now have six calathias, two birds nest ferns, a rabbits foot fern, an alocasia polly, a Chinese evergreen, two pothos, a Pepperomia, 

a string of turtles,

 a pellionia
I am not sure it is acting the way I wanted it to.
Seems to be growing up instead of down.
It said it would make a nice window sill plant. So I will wait and see.
It has grown quite a bit since I got it.

 A heart leaf fern.

I really like the heart leaf fern.
It is really cute.
It seems easy to grow at least for me.
I have it on my tea cart under a lamp next to the window so it does get a lot of light.
I ordered this one, but then I saw one at the local nursery the other day.
I was tempted to buy another one, but decided I would refrain.
One should be enough.😁

I just got this cute little pothos pictus in the mail.

I just love it's silvery white spots. Supposedly this won't get to big. It will be nice for the table I have it on.

My only problem seems to be finding pots for plants. I like to find the right pot for each plant. With the virus, it has really made it hard to find different pots.

Hopefully things will be getting back to normal soon and more stock will be available in stores.

I think that's all besides the eleven African violets and other plants I already had in the house.

I think the total houseplants is only 37...I still have room for a few more...

What have you added since the stay at home adventure began?    

June 10th

I have been busy since school got out.

Pruning and getting things under control here in the garden.

I cut the monarda down. I couldn't stand it any longer.

It looks better now, but I will remove it in the fall.

I also dug out a huge landscape rose bush. I hated it and it was time for it to go.

I put Double Delite rose in its place plus some zinnas. Much better.

I pruned the hedge. That is was a huge ordeal because I waited so long.

I put a coat of restore a finish on my outside table. It was looking pretty shabby.

And for the second time this week I cut the solar cord for the toilet fountain.

Ugh! Now I have to ask hubby again to fix. It's in a different place maybe that will make it easier?

At least it is repairable. 😁

I have to put the cord in something so I don't cut it again with the hedge trimmer.

Note to self....fix that problem a.s.a.p.

I still need to mow the lawn, but I am done for the day.

Everything looks so nice at this time of the year.

The weather has been really nice.

I know that will end soon so I am trying to get as much done as possible before then.

Schools Out For Summer

Time flew this year. Between all the PG&E power outages, fires and the dreaded virus.

I am glad to be done and on vacation for the next couple of months.

Now I can concentrate on the garden.

It is doing so well this year in spite of all the difficulties of life.
