End of April

 And just like that another month has flown by.

Here is a picture of momma great horned owl.

I have not seen an owlet in a while. It must be hiding.

The wood ducks are about ready to hatch in the other tree.

Maggie is sitting patiently and waiting for the big day!

The Wood Ducks

 Maggie, our once-a-year nesting wood duck, is in the house sitting on her eggs.  This hen showed up and was looking in to see what was going on. Or maybe she wants to sub-lease a spot for her family?

She brought her handsome husband along with her to inspect the house.

They are so cute.

Owl Update

 The owlets have hatched and momma owl is keeping a close eye on the little ones.

We had a big storm here yesterday wind and hail with pouring rain.

They all seem fine.

The other owl family is not posing for pictures right now. I will try and get one later.

Their tree is covered in poison oak. It is a great place to hide.

Maria

 I put a rose my husband got me at Safeway in her head. It is a very pretty rose that has red flowers accented in white.

Kind of like the Love rose only in a miniature form.

I added the crown from my other head planter that broke.

I glued it on so it would not fall off.

Maria sits on my patio table under the umbrella.

We are having a freeze warning for tonight/early morning.

It has been very windy the past few days too.

I covered everything I couldn't bring in. Hopefully they all make it.

Just a week ago it was 80 degrees here. It has been a crazy spring.

New ACE Hardware Store

 A new part of ACE opened up near me and they had a lot of cool stuff.

I sent my husband in to take a peek.

Here is what he found for me.

I love the angel and the succulents.

I got the silvery one on the bottom left side of picture.

The angel will go in my secret garden with my other angels.

I am going to have to go check out the garden part of ACE soon.

I didn't have time to go. I had to much stuff to do.

Soon, hopefully.

Polish Bread

 My Mom was polish. She used to make this Potica bread, which is a Polish sweet bread for holidays.

I figured it was close to Easter so I would make some today.

I have made it many times. Everyone enjoys it a lot.

There is walnuts, cinnamon and sugar inside. I guess I should have sliced some to show you.

It is great heated with butter. It is kinda like a cinnamon roll. (-:

Some people put a sugar glaze on top. I don't do that. My Mom never did either.

Tomorrow I am baking my sourdough bread. It was another busy weekend with baseball and a day with the Princess. The days seem to fly by. We have five more days and then I am off for Spring Break!
