Great Horned Update and Tom

My Great Horned Owls are nesting!
I can hardly wait until there are owlets looking down on me(-:
I have not hung the screech owl house up yet. I guess I will just forget about it for this year. I am sure having the GH Owls living in the same area is not going to appeal to a Screech Owl. Next year maybe. For now I am thrilled to have the GH Owls back in the tree making a new family!

 

Tom or as we call him Grandpa! He has three lady friends but I didn't take their picture. He has really been strutting around. I think he is so handsome.

Chocolate

Chocolate Mint in a Hershey's Chocolate Syrup can with a Chocolate Bunny! The bunny is ceramic not real chocolate.(-: Getting ready for Easter here. How are you?

Happy First Day Of Spring!

Are you ready yet?
Yesterday I worked all day washing windows and cleaning the front porch of cobwebs and mud dobber nests.
What fun! I could barely walk inside at the end of the day!
But, it looks fabulous!
So Yes! I am ready for SPRING! I can see clearly out the windows now! That is good right?
Today is overcast here. Suppose to rain today sometime. I am excited for that to happen of course. Of course though, I just washed the windows. So yes it will rain for sure! It's o.k. rain water won't hurt them too much right?

It is also just a couple weeks until Easter. What? When did that happen? This whole Spring thing just snuck right up on me! Not ready for that yet. I need to get busy.

I did order a butterfly bench. The table/chairs I ordered last year are so wonderful and I enjoy them so much, but only enough seating for two. Which is normally fine, but if someone else comes over I want to be able to enjoy the space with everyone. This bench is not from the set, but I loved it and thought it would fit in well. Hopefully it arrives soon.

I am anxious to put all the plants outside too. I have a bunch of Christmas cactus in the house I need to move outdoors when it is safe. I think that is soon. It is pretty protected on the front porch so I might try to move them out there this weekend. I also have a big begonia in the house too. It over wintered well inside so I will bring it in next Fall again if I don't have a greenhouse by then.

The Princess is walking and going full speed. It keeps me on my toes for sure. She is such a joy to have and I am so lucky to get to babysit her when her parents are working.

I found this on Pinterest. I really love it. It looks like it would take a lot of succulents to make, but it would be a cool addition to my "beach" garden area(-:  Looks like a fun project to do(-:

Hair Coloring

Does anyone color their own hair or do you just go see your beautician?
It is difficult with long hair but I still do my own. I found recently the hair color I used was not coloring the grey anymore. It would color it for about a week. Then it would fade and look brassy and basically just plain yucky. I tried every name brand they sell over the counter.

I could never get a straight answer when I asked the lady who cut my hair what to do. Of course because she wanted to charge 80.00 to color it for me. Of course it was great when she did do it. It was perfect as expected, but I don't want to fork out 80 bucks every three to four weeks.

I grew up with a Mother who was a beautician. No help there either. What is it, a secret code between beauticians? A friend suggested going to Sally http://www.sallybeauty.com . So reluctantly I went. Since I am a shy person, it is very hard to ask for help. But I did. I was very happy with the result. Although, I had to figure out about mixing colors together myself. The medium color was to dark where as the light color was to light. So I mixed half and half and found a perfect match. It is not hard at all in fact it was really easy. The color lasts without fading and it was cheap. 7 dollars a bottle. They even have sales. How can you beat that? I wish I would have done this years ago.

So anyhow, I just thought I would share this with everyone incase someone is reluctant like me to go ask for help. Just go to Sally and ask. They are very friendly and helpful. And no, I am not getting paid to say that. I just like helping people, you're welcome! (-:

Over The Top With Excitement

Over this totally awesome, old, rusty pump. I know you can guess where it is going. I have been searching all week for one. I must have looked on Craigslist a hundred times. Then yesterday it suddenly appeared! I know my Dad had his hand in that one for sure because the ad was posted four days prior. How could I have missed it? I am going to pick it up today. Hopefully can have it all up and running this weekend!

New Old Sun and Moon Face and a pulley and bucket planter

My brother got the old pulley for me a while ago and I saw the post on Pinterest about hanging buckets from it so that's what I did. I planted Sempervivums in the buckets. They will grow and fill in eventually.

I found the old sun and moon face on eBay. It is super heavy. Made of cement. I bet it weighs 10 pounds! I got a bargain on it. It is so nice. About 13 inches around. I didn't even clean it. I hung it right up on the wall. It has a beautiful rusty patina on it. I love it so much(-:

Updated birdhouse and Plant Frame Wall

My brother gave me a new old birdhouse. I painted it to match the other ones. I added the little face to it by gluing it on. A bird has already been building a nest in it. So fun! This past weekend I was at Home Depot. They had another frame there. Not on sale. Much smaller. 10 inches by 10 inches. No frame around it, 18.00. I didn't get it. I thought it was a rip off. Besides I would have to redo the whole wall again. LOL
