Bomb Cyclone
We had a huge storm last night. We were so lucky that nothing was broken.
Wind gusts were 60 miles an hour.
We lost several branches. One landed on the house and fell to the ground. I think roof is o.k. It wasn't to big, but I will get up there and look just to be sure.
Another larger branch blew into the garden fence. It broke a 2X4, but missed the barn roof.
So we are all safe. Just a lot to clean up after that wind.
Roads around here are still closed.
I am glad we don't have to travel anywhere for Thanksgiving.

Turkey Craft Place Holders
This project didn't work out the way it was meant to, but it's finished and ready for the table.
I planned on having the Princess make most of the turkeys, but she got a stomach virus and was only able to do the names and numbers (on back) for the turkeys.
Which means I had to glue all the parts on and that was a fun time!😁
The Princess loves the turkeys and that is all that matters right? I sure hope she is better by Thursday.
I also hope I don't get sick.
So here is what we did.
She is really good at writing names and numbers.
I didn't take a picture of the backs. The numbers are from 1-12
We made two extra incase someone extra shows up.
The numbers are for a drawing we are going to have to win a prize.
We thought a game would be fun to add to the feast.
Everyone likes to win right?
Anyhow, the directions for the original turkey were online.
This is a picture of the one that was online.
I thought place holders would be cute using these turkeys.
I found the cups at Hobby Lobby, although not brown, they worked for this project.
Directions called for painting the cups, but I didn't want to do that.
Also, the pom pom I had to order from an online company. Create For Less
They suggested a 1 inch pom pom but it looked funny because it was so small.
So I decided a 2 inch pom pom would be better.
However, I could not find a 2 inch brown pom pom anywhere.
Create for less shipped fast and I got them in a couple days. So that was nice.
I used colored construction paper for the feathers/beak/waddle and wiggly eyes.
You can find everything else Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
It was a fun project and I am looking forward to Thanksgiving.

Meeting The Family
A week ago Friday the 15th I was fortunate enough to meet the wife and daughters of the pilot.
They drove up to visit the site. My brother was here so he texted me and said they were here and I came home. It was an emotional meeting. I still feel very connected to the crash victims and now I also feel connected to their family.
As we were talking I told them I had found a few things that might be important. Over the course of a few weeks I was finding human remains and was calling the coroner to come and get them.
I found the gold chain a month later. It was broken. I put it in a Ziploc and hoped I would be able to return it someday.
I had put the Ziploc away in a drawer and forgot about it actually until the family showed up.
I told them I had found a couple things and one was a gold chain.
They were shocked and extremely happy I had found the chain.
They said they prayed and prayed they could find it. They all agreed that it would be a miracle if it was ever found. Well their prayers were answered and yes it probably was a miracle it was found.
They called me a saint. It meant so much to them and they were so happy.
They never thought they would find the gold chain.
I was happy they were happy. It was a very emotional moment.

The daughters had given the chain to their Dad. They wished to pass it on to their brother. It also had a Saint Christopher medallion which I did not find. I wondered at the time, but did not see it anywhere so figured it may not have one.
When Spring came I went out one time and then I didn't go again. I may have missed something. I decided that this week while I am off we will take the medal detector down and try to go over areas where we know we had found a lot of stuff. Maybe it will be there.
Wouldn't that be a miracle?

You have seen the crash site. It is covered in weeds right now. Although sparsely right now since it has not rained. It is dry out there and that is what I am hoping will be a plus in finding it.
We are going to have rain this week so I hope to go out tomorrow and look.
I feel like I should at least give it my best shot.
So a prayer or two might help.🙏🙏
I really wish I could locate the medallion and return it to the family.

The Turkeys Are Still Here!
They usually leave way before now. Here it is mid November and they are still coming everyday for a snack. They fly in. You can't keep them out of the yard. (-:

One Year Ago Today
I think of Clay Abajian and Dick Tak everyday as I walk.
Not as traumatic as it was to start with, but it still weighs on my heart.
Why this happened no one knows.
It was just one of those things that was meant to be I guess.
I hope they are resting in peace.
Prayers to their families today.
