7 More School Days

School is almost out for summer. Yippee!  I can hardly wait.

I got the fish and starfish at the dollar store. They had a battery light inside that I removed so they could be outside. The fish is ceramic and the starfish is plastic. Super cute for a buck. Well really it is 1.25 now, but still a bargin. You get several starfish in a bag for that price.  I put them around in my garden to enjoy. Sometimes they have really cute things there.

I hope your week is off to a great start!

It Is My Dad's Heavenly Birthday Today!

He would have been 94 today!
He always wanted to live to be 100. I wish he had. 😢
It has also been 2 years since Jack left us.
It has been hard without Jack and of course It is hard without my Dad.

My son in law had a birthday on Friday and we celebrated by making his favorite dinner. Tacos and German chocolate cake. His Mom came over and enjoyed dinner and a tour of the garden.

It has been a quiet weekend so far, as everyone went out of  town for the weekend.

We even had some rain here. Not much, but it was refreshing and fun to see.

Anyhow, here are some pictures I took this morning of the garden.

I just added these red bottles a couple weeks ago.
I really like the red. Before they were clear.

And last but not least, our stray cat Gandalf.
I call him Gandy for short.
He loves to eat.
He is getting nicer with each can of his favorite food.😆

I still can't pick him up.  Hopefully soon.
Until then we will just take care of him and love him.

That is all for today. I hope you enjoyed the tour and are enjoying your weekend!

May 21st

The month is skipping along. Flowers are blooming and things are growing like crazy.

It has been warm this week.

More humid then normal for this area.

I have been busy raking leaves, debris and dead heading the blooms.

Normal garden duties for this time of year.

Still more to do this week.

I hope you are enjoying your May days.

Head Planter Fisher

You may recall Fisher my head planter I made from a mannequin head.

He has done really well and is looking very cool this year.

Fisher's hair is scottish moss.
He sports a seashell necklace that I put together.
The sunglasses were given to me by my son in law.

Happy weekend!

New Rose

This is the new rose I got this past weekend.

The name is Playboy. It is a tree rose.

Very pretty I think.

Also a picture of our new cat.

Someone dumped him here the first of March. He is still scared, but getting more friendly. He was very skinny when he came here. He likes to eat and he is looking much better.

I still can't pick him up. He lets me pet him a little bit.

He has the most beautiful blue eyes. The picture doesn't show them very well.  I need to try to get a better picture.

My husband named him Gandalf.

We had another rain storm today. It cleared by late afternoon and the sun came out. It was a perfect day.
It is suppose to warm up later in the week.
I hope you are enjoying your week so far!

Sourdough Sunday

Todays bread turned out nice. It was a rainy Saturday. That seems to work well with sourdough.

We had 1.87 inches Saturday. That was really nice. This has been a good spring and with all the rain the flowers are really starting to bloom.

Frida Kahlo rose.

I got a new rose at Home Depot on Saturday. I need to take a picture of it.

It is a really nice orange color with ruffled edges.

The name on the tag said Playboy.

It got planted near the bench in the new beach garden.

I  had a big blue pot for it and planted it in that.

I think it will do well there.

Did you watch the Coronation?

We recorded it and watched it later. It came on at 3am our time.

That is all for today. I hope you have a great start to your week!

Night Boat

We had a down pour of rain most of the day.  1.87 inches. It cleared in late afternoon and the sun came out.

It was a wonderful day. We need all the rain we can get. I was very happy to see it.

This evening after getting the birds to bed and checking out the garden, I noticed the boat lights on.

I was thinking how nice and peaceful it looked and wanted a picture to show you.

You can almost imagine being at the seashore enjoying a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is baking day. I will be up early. I will try to get pictures.

Sleep well!

Trip To Nursery

I stopped at the nursery on my way to work today.  This was the highlight of my trip.

I laughed to myself as I thought of the rabbit enjoying the plants.

Later in the afternoon my husband brought me home a heart leaf fern.

The nursery did have this plant, but it looked distressed. This heart leaf was found at the grocery store in much better shape.

Tomorrow is Wednesday. We only have 26 days of school left!

Hope you have a great day!

Sourdough Baking Day

 Happy Monday!

I usually bake on Sunday, but this past weekend I had the grandkids over so I was not able to get the dough made.  So it was an early baking day on a Monday this week.

I make sourdough once a week. I give one to my brother and then usually have a couple for our family.

I usually make an extra loaf and keep in the fridge until Tuesday and bake it so we have a fresh loaf for mid week.

It always tastes good even if it doesn't look perfect on the outside.

I have been practicing with different ways to design the top.

I did try a new flour a couple months ago.

It is very good and strong for sourdough bread.

If you enjoy baking bread give this flour a try. I really think it helps a lot to use good flour. In the past I have used Gold Metal bread flour and King Arthur. I like Bob's better.

I got mine at Wal Mart.

I am already looking forward to making more on the weekend. It is addicting.

Well that is it for me for the day. I will leave you with a couple of blooms!

Have a great Tuesday!
