A new vintage sink to use in the garden as a water fountain. I will replace the modern type faucet with an old vintage one. The plants are several different Sedums a daylily and two one gallon semps. Going to be busy tomorrow planting! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

The Daylilies Are Starting to Bloom

It is finally that time of the year again. Daylilies are begining to pop out of their skins. I love these plants!!! These are just a few of the ones I have. I will add to them as they bloom.

Time For A Bath?

I redid the fish tub because last summer a big old mean raccoon came and ate all my fish. I had to replace them this spring and decided to make an obstacle course for the raccoons for the next time they decide to mess with the gold fish. So far so good on that. The Mermaid was a mothers day gift from my DH.(-:

Another Day @ The Beach

I couldn't resist taking this picture this morning. It is my reminder that only 8 more work days remain and then I will be on vacation!!! Granted, I will be spending it at home but, not having to go to work makes me a happy person!!! I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day Weekend and everyone has a wonderful and safe remainder of the week!

Imposters

I looked out at the birds and there was a huge goldfinch eating out of the
humming-bird feeder! I thought...what a hog!!! Then I thought wait, that isn't a goldfinch...but what is it? So I had to go online and search until I found what I think it is called.
A Bullocks Oriole.
It is really pretty and there is a female too. Which means they probably have a nest somewhere around close by. Anyhow, if anyone has another guess let me know otherwise I am guessing its a Bullocks Oriole!
Oh and before you ask what is wrapped around the top of the hummingbird feeder...That is a ant stopper. You take a piece of flannel(I cut it in strips) soaked in plain old cooking oil and wring it out so to speak. Then you wrap it around the top of the hummingbird feeder and ants won't cross over it. My great aunt told me this trick to keep those pesky ants away. I am sure there are other things you can buy that are much prettier and all that but this is a freebie and it works so I never checked into anything else(-:

Finch Feast

These little birds are so fun to watch. They eat a lot of seeds for their small size. I have to fill up their socks every couple of days! I am still trying to get a picture of a big yellow bird that drinks out of my hummingbird feeder. Its about the size of a blue jay. Really pretty yellow color. Hopefully will get a picture to show you soon.

fAcEs On A tReE

Yesterday while I was outside looking around I thought what a fun idea it would be to take pictures of the tree faces and post them on the blog. Does anyone else collect tree faces? I think they are funny. Everyone comments that sees them on the trees. Some are scary and some are silly but they all add a certain character to each tree. The first one I ever got was a Halloween tree face that glowed in the dark. That was over five years ago and its still hanging on the tree. I left it up after Halloween because I enjoyed seeing it glow after dark. It still glows in the dark too. What a kick! The pirate lost his nose in the wind last winter. I looked everywhere for it but I can't seem to locate it yet. I continue to look but meantime I gave him a piece of a pine cone for a nose.

This is part of my Tipsy Buckets planter. I planted this last summer and I have never seen them bloom! I thought it was a very cheerful Monday morning picture(-: I hope everyone has a great week! I know I will because I only have 13 days of school left and then I will be off for summer break! Yup I am happy!!!(-:

***Last night someone dumped off two roosters on our road. It was so sad. They were just sitting there in the dark. My son saw them when he was leaving and called to tell me. My husband and I drove up to the road and caught the two guys and brought them home. It was pretty funny. Imagine us trying to grab two roosters in the dark with a flashlight! Anyhow, they are safe now. So far the girls don't seem to care...lol

Snake sssssssssssssss

Last night my son got home and woke me up. He said come see this big weird snake in the road. He grabbed the camera and we went out to look at it. Its a California King Snake. They are good for getting little rodents etc. Jacks competition. He won't be happy and the snake won't either if he finds him. Anyhow it slithered away into the night so I'm sure it will be back again.

Waterbed Duck Pond?

I guess she thinks so anyhow. It was 105.6 degrees today so I don't blame her for taking a dip in the pond. I bet she feels a lot better(-:

PeOnIeS

Lots blooming today but I just had to take a quick picture of these beautiful flowers. I love them but of course my camera is not worth much. It just does not capture the real beautiful color. Oh well a new camera should be arriving soon at my house and then...watch out...(-: BTW how do you pronounce the name of these flowers??? Pee O Nee or... Pee A Nee???? I get a kick outta the way different people pronounce them. I go with Pee O nee myself...(-:

Looking @ a window

I added a shelf to the outside of my daughters bedroom window. As some of you know my daughter got married in January and moved out so I re-did her room in a primitive, patriotic theme with primitive rabbits. I decided it needed something else added on the outside to look at when you are looking out the window so I came up with a plan to put a shelf there and add some geraniums and of course rabbits..(-: I drilled holes in the board and placed the pots over those so the water would drain out and not rot the wood so fast. I also added a hummingbird feeder. I really enjoy those little birds.

Happy Mothers Day!

I made this old chair into a planter for my Mothers Day gift to my Dad's girlfriend. She likes old stuff like I do so she enjoyed the chair planter(-: Hope everyone had a great day and had time to relax and do some fun stuff!

SpLiSh SpLaSh

This little fountain is in an old cast iron bathtub that was recycled. There are no plants in it or fish just the otter. It makes for a nice water feature on a hot day!

Baby Quail

Jack caught this and did not kill it. It was a team effort I'm sure between the cat and Jack. I did not see any other quail anywhere in the yard. Anyhow the little baby quail now has a new home in the incubator in the house. How many Motherless animals have I raised you ask? To many to count. It should be ready to release in 6 weeks.

Empty Nest

The quail all hatched and are off scurrying around the area. (-: They are good at hiding so hopefully they will be o.k.

Just A Day At The Beach...

Garden!!!(-:
I had to re-do my beach garden again this year because the cows decided it was a nice winter vacation spot for them. They ate the blue fescue that I have growing in the minnow buckets. That is about the only thing to eat there. The rest they just trampled. Oh well it's always fun to re-do things in the garden. It gives me another reason to go to the Nursery.
I planted nasturtium seeds along the back of the garden again this year. Last summer the nasturtiums were really pretty and added a lot of color to the beach! The sand castle is a new addition this year. My husband got it for me at Lowes. The beach was just not complete without a it!(-:

Semps in a Wheelbarrow

Last summer I went on a Semp-a-holic spree. I ordered several different Semps. Well of course some were bigger then others so I decided to just pot them up and wait till the spring time to plant them somewhere. Well Spring is here and I still thought they were kinda small so I decided to just plant them in the old wheelbarrow and let them grow for this season.

Quail Nest and More Flowers

I had to share this picture because this to me is unbelievable. This quail is nesting next to my chicken pen right out in the open. We have two cats and a dog of course and she sits perfectly still when anyone comes near. So today I told her I was going to take her picture and post it on the blog. She smiled...(-: Mrs. Quail has 12 eggs in her nest. Hopefully I will be able to get a picture of her babies when they hatch. (-:
Anyhow, I decided I better share a flower or two to make it fair... The rest of the yard is really going crazy with It looks so pretty and Springy!

The allium continues to grow bigger and bloom. Its in its third week now.


The bucket of foxgloves are blooming near the chicken pen. My brother planted them in the bucket and gave me the whole thing last year. Yes, he is the nicest brother in the world(-:

The yellow poker plant is looking more yellow so decided it needed a new picture. That is actually two separate blooms in the picture. My red/orange ones are starting to bloom also. I will get a picture of them next week when they are all blooming.
