Garden End Of September

 

 

Turkeys are still hanging out here. I love them so much, but not so much when they dig all my flowers out and step on everything as they are walking around. Oh well what can you do?

 

Of course nothing is better then the Princess. Her Mom sent this picture to me today. They had a pumpkin crisis. The dog ate the vine so the pumpkin had to be picked early. It is still a nice pumpkin! The Princess named the Pumpkin Sweet Pea. She kissed and hugged it every day while it was growing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



Mosaic

Working on a new mosaic. I found the vanity tray online and just had to get it because of the pretty details. It is really pretty, but had no mirror. The tray was flimsy and unstable. So what to do? I decided a mirrored mosaic would look nice. Got out the stuff this morning first thing and got to work. Here it is so far.

I will try and get it grouted tonight. I think it will look pretty awesome(-:

Star Magnolia

My Star Magnolia which I have had for 25+ years has decided to produce some seed pods.

They are quite pretty hanging on the tree for Fall.

They are all over the tree. Funny it decided to do that after all these years.



Apothecary

For some reason I have an obsession with apothecary jars.

I just love how they look.  They are like having garden totems in the house. I have made many garden totems out of glass plates and vases over the years. These apothecary jars will not be going in the garden.

The green ones I have collected at different places

online and at local shops.

The very tall purple one was one my Grandmother had on a dresser at her house when I was growing up. She had a purple room just for me when I stayed with her.

My Mom had the clear jar to the right of the picture. I found the other really tall one at an antique shop. I love the large glass ball on the lid.

 

I also love the battery powered candles. They have timers and come on and turn off all by themselves.  What more could you ask for?

 

 

Head Planter

I have had this one for several years. It has a sedge grass in it. Seems to do pretty well.

I have tried several plants. This one seems to work best and the chickens don't bother it. Plus it gives me something to play with when I sit at the table. I have braided it and wrapped it around in a pony tail etc. It doesn't seem to mind.

Cooler weather has arrived.

Just in time for Fall fun.

Still not 100%, but better every day. This virus is lingering.

Still coughing. Fever finally left after 2 weeks. Was happy to see it go. Kind of makes me nervous going anywhere. Hate to get sick again.

I thought washing hands was enough, but I guess not.

I will be taking my germ killing wipes with me and using them on the baskets at the grocery store etc.  There are to many weird bugs around now days. Better safe then sorry and spending weeks recovering from some nasty virus.



Glasses

I really like these. No idea why.

They are for the wall.

Kinda like a picture.

Just saw them on ebay.



After Labor Day White Is Still In

At least here in my garden

 

The Moon Flowers are blooming like crazy.

 

And a white hibiscus still blooming too!



Rescued Hummingbird

This little bird hit the window. It was 110 outside here yesterday and smoky. No wonder. So brought it in for some refreshments and within 30 minute was ready to fly.

 

 

Been sick for a week finally went to doctor yesterday. Kept running fever and general achy flu like symptoms. Come to find out it was a UTI. So antibiotics and will feel better soon. I hate being sick. Seems like this has been the Summer for viruses though. The whole family has had at least two rounds of viruses this Summer. Between that and the heat and smoke it has been a drag. I am looking forward to Fall. Please hurry.
