Great Horned Momma Owl and Owlet

I say owlet because so far I only see one.
Hopefully the others are just laying low.
The owlet has grown a lot since I last saw him/her.
This is the first picture I have taken of them though.
I walk by them several times a day and just say hi.
I hate to bother the Mom while she is trying to sit on the nest.
She doesn't seem to mind, but I don't want to upset her until owlet was big enough for her to leave if she needed to.
Now she comes and goes. Mostly she is there sitting with owlet.
So I told her this morning it was time to make her owlet famous.

She gave me that look.👀

Owlet is now an internet star.

And of course the owls are 30 feet up in a tree so it is well over the 6 foot safe distance.
Everyone was safe.😂

The owls come back every year to this tree to raise their owlets. It is something I look forward to every year. They are family to me.
They never really leave the area. They stay in one three or another the whole year. Just at times they fly off in another part of the ranch and we don't see them for a while. But, I know they are always here somewhere. They are sneaky little critters. They like to observe and not draw attention to themselves. They are the sweetest birds of prey though. I have been able to hold several over the years and they are always so sweet and docile. Not at all viscous like a hawk.
I am so lucky to have them in my life.❤

Still Humid and Hot Here

The flowers love the weather, but I don't.
I am in need of some cool dry weather here.

 Mini Hostas I ordered bareroot.
I got them all potted up.

Wednesday

It has been hot and humid here.
Today is suppose to be cooler.
I am looking forward to that.
We don't usually have humidity so it is an adjustment for sure.
I couldn't live where it was really humid all the time.
It is hard to breathe.

Here are some things today in the garden.

I added a cherub to the pot wreath.

Color Magic Rose.
It is a favorite of mine.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

4.27.20

Today I pruned the back hedge. It is a big job,  not hard,  just time consuming. I have a system for cutting it and it usually works pretty well.
When I am cutting I have time to look around and think about stuff. Today I decided to move the large vase like planter and put it where the lady head planter was.
I like the head planter , but wanted to try The vase planter there for a few days to see if I liked it more.
My only thought is that it is to big.
Next to it is a window frame in the hedge.
You can't really look out the window with the planter there.
I do however like the colorfulness of the planter there.
So for now it will stay. Maybe tomorrow I will decide if I like it better.😀
It is fun moving things around.

Update:
It didn't make it a day. I changed it back.
I like it better with the head planter there. The vase planter moved by the table.
It is nice it is just to tall for that spot.

Garden Is In

The garden is in earlier then normal, but it should be fine. I can't wait for fresh veggies. It seems like forever since last year's veggies.  Of course there are plenty to share.
We will add pumpkins and watermelon plants soon.
So far there are several varieties of tomatoes, and peppers.
 Cantalope, cucumbers, basil,
Sunflowers, zinnas and zucchini.

Bake Day

Another week another bake day.
This week I made more hot rolls because they are a favorite for dinner/snack/breakfast.

I also made pizza rolls.
I share with my brother and his family.
That is why I make so many.
I love baking. I figure if I am making some then it's easy to make extra and share.
Pizza rolls are nice for lunch or snacks.

Tuesday

Another lovely day in the garden.

A new planter for hens and chicks or minature hosta?
I ordered some minature hostas. I can't wait to see what they look like.

This begonia I found at Home Depot a month ago.
It goes perfectly with my new fish pot.

Sunday

It was a lovely day yesterday.
I got up, got ready and headed to our local nursery.
I thought it would be a perfect time to go right when they opened.
Wrong.
Parking lot was full. Cars parked on highway in front of nursery and down side road.
People were lined up at the door to get in.
It was crazy.
I don't recall ever seeing so many people shopping there.
Was everyone going crazy from staying home or was there a huge sale I didn't know about?
I did wait for a bit and then I went in and ventured around.
The line to check out was to long though so nothing was purchased.
Some people were wearing masks, but a lot were not.
It felt really claustrophobic so I skedaddled.
Drove around just to be out and about.
Everywhere was packed.
Ended up stopping at grocery store to get a few needed things and went home.

As I was shopping at Raley's a few things jumped into my basket.

This cute little angel.

These three heart planters.
I already had the hens and chicks.

Carmen looked nice so I also took her picture.
I will attempt to go back to the nursery at some point.
I guess right when they open is not a good idea.
What about lunch time?
I saw some really nice things there.
I really want to go back...(-:
It is weird how some people are not worried at all by the virus.
I wonder how they think it will all work out for them?
I wish I wasn't such a worrier.
Oh well not much I can do about that.

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.

It's Friday!

Headed into another stay at home weekend...
Here is something to look at...
 The primroses are done.
I think I am going to put some impatients in there.

And this poor thing. What happened?
Wilted before it's time.
