Twas the night before Christmas...

Not a snowflake in sight. It was cold. and boy, it did bite! The sky looked on fire, With its colorful glow. But it did not, look like Christmas, Without any snow. The girls were snug on their roost nice and tight. The eggs had been gathered and stored for the night. The cows grazed by the light of the moon, In hopes that St. Nick would be here real soon. Jack in his t shirt, sitting with me on my lap. Dave at his computer, tappity tap. All was peaceful and quiet at our little house. Not a creature was stirring just Daves puter mouse. All the gifts were wrapped and put under the tree, We were grateful to our troops for keeping us free!!! God Bless everyone and remember to pray For our men and woman in uniform so far away! Veterans Day

Why does this have anything to do with Gardening? Well if it were not for the Veterans that have fought for our Freedom, we would not have the privilege to garden as we want. Freedom is not free. I love our Country. I desend from a long line of Veterans in my family, going all the way back to the American Revolution. Yes, I am a proud member of the D.A.R. I am proud to be an AMERICAN!!!!! Today I just want to say how proud I am of all the men and woman who continue to serve our country and keep us all safe here at home. Thank You!!!!! God Bless You!!!!

Hanging On

This apple seems to be holding out for a frost. Normally we have a frost before the 15th of November. The fall weather has been pretty crazy here. We have had 80+ daytime temperatures and 38-40 temperatures at night. I am enjoying it while it lasts, because I know soon it will be raining and cold everyday. Can you believe it's only two weeks until Thanksgiving? Where has this year gone?

What can you do with a penny?

I wondered that many times over the years. Well one day I was on Garden Web and someone had covered a bowling ball with pennies. It was so awesome!!!!! I decided to round up a few pennies and make one too. I think I actually used around 6 dollars worth. I did two layers of pennies on my ball. Here is what it looks like...

Fall @ the Falls and another Autumn picture

Since that time is drawing near thought I would post a picture of what I made a couple years ago. I used an old recycled bird cage(thanks to my brother) and sewed/stuffed/painted the bats and then grubbied them up and and wired them into the cage at various places. Its one of my favorite Halloween decorations! LOL

Today when I got home from work I decided to take a quick walk with Jack. He loves the sunshine and of course he loves to walk!!! It is going to rain later so I am glad I got to get outside before that happens. I have a couple bags of Anenomes to get planted in the "Sleeping With The Anenomes" flower bed. Also I have begun to look around and decide what is going to be evicted this winter. I gave the hydrangeas notice. They need a shadier spot. The cannas all did really great this year. I might have to get more of those. Also I had a great show with the Perennial hibiscus. I hope they all return next year!

Natures Bounty

At least my little furry friends will have plenty to eat this winter.

Every tree was loaded with either acorns...walnuts...almonds...or pine cones. I have never seen so many before and we have lived here for 17 years!

Everywhere you look there are thousands of acorns. Every few seconds another acorn falls on the roof of the house. It is just amazing to see so many of these. Bon Appetite my little squirrel buddies!

I was finally able to get a picture of the bottle tree(bush). This is the current look of it. The leaves are all changing colors and everything is looking fall-ish(-:

I actually think this tree looks pretty good. I liked it the old way but I have accepted this new design thanks to Mother Nature(-: Hopefully no more of it breaks off this winter. 

This past summer we redid our chicken pen and I was finally able to display all my feeders along the top of the fence. My brother collects them for me at the recycling center he "shops" at(-: The morning glory decided to weave its way around this one and I thought it made a nice picture. Flippin' for Fall

Well Fall is finally here. I am not sure if I am glad or not because everything is dying. I do enjoy the fall colors though. Last night a rotten critter ate all but two of my gold fish. I am really bummed because I had one of them for years. His name was Goldie. It is a sad day. The pond the fish live in, is made from an old bathtub. I guess the remaining two fish will at least have each other to keep them company. Last fall a raccoon ate all the fish except Goldie. That's why I bought some more this past spring. I guess that is the bad part about having a pond. I haven't seen the raccoon around for months so I thought maybe he had moved away. Guess I was wrong on that guess.

 

So what else is new this fall? Well the top of my bottle tree broke off. That was not good. I did some work on it and now its more of a bottle bush. (-: I will have to take a new picture of the bottle tree. I am new to this blogging thing so I haven't quite figured out how to post pictures and make them appear where I want them to. Guess I will have to work on that...(-:

bowling balls

The red mirrored bowling ball was made using about 600 red mirrored tiles. It was then grouted with black grout. The stand its on was a recycled item from the salvation army. (-: This Yellow marble covered bowling ball is covered in about five bags (approx 75 in a bag) of flat marbles glued using the silicone glue. I painted the ball yellow first then glued on the marbles.

The orange marble ball was made using about five bags of the flat marbles. I painted the bowling ball orange first then glued the marbles on using silicone glue.

This is covered with about 600 glass blue mirror tiles.

Very First Post

This is my newest addition to my garden. My brother got this bed frame at the recycling center for me. I planted pansies and alyssum I added spagnum moss to cover the bare areas and hold in moisture. I will be looking forward to seeing it grow(-:
