Owl Update

Well sad news to report. One owlet hatched and it fell from the tree somehow. Sometimes nature is cruel. Anyhow, the owls have left the nest. I was really sad to find the owlet on the ground deceased.
I had not seen the owls in the tree for a couple days, so I went to investigate. I can see the tree from the house, so I can tell if they are in the nest without going out to see all the time.
An adult owl was on the ground a couple times during those two days so I thought maybe something was wrong with it. It flew off when I went to look around. That is when I found the owlet. It was alive but died sometime during that night. It was way up in the tree probably 30 feet or so. Maybe the long fall injured it. So this year was not successful to the owls. Hopefully they will try again next year.
Until then I guess I will get to see them hanging out on a branch...whooo whooooooing all night long. I am going to miss seeing the owlet grow up though. Very sad. )-:

No sign of owlets yet, but I am sure they are there somewhere.

Mom watching the nest closely last night. I think the owlets have hatched. The Dad is sitting in the nest. I can't wait to see little fluffs of white downy feathers!

New Blooms

My bed is filling in really nice and this clematis is in full bloom this morning. I am going to prune the ivy this weekend hopefully and then maybe I will share a picture(-:



The carolina allspice is blooming.



I am loving the Supertunias. This is Pink Bubblegum. This is the second year for it in these two planters.





My table is filing in well too. I need to work on the chairs again. The squirrels decided that they were a great place to hide their acorns last Fall and they dug up a lot of my sempervivums.


And of course I have to post about my owl. I have not seen any signs of hatchlings yet but I think they must be under there somewhere.(-:

Grand Daddy Turkey

It is hard to tell by this picture but until he comes back this is all I have. He was huge! I have never seen a bigger Tom.
Anyhow, the girls are back and they brought him with them. I filled up their feeder so I am sure they will be stopping back again soon!
