Yup You Guess It

I am stilllllll sick. Ugh! When will it end.
Sore throat from hell. Seriously. It is like fire. Fever that comes and goes. Ears plugged up or popping. Stomach that feels like rocks are grinding inside.
Over all feeling of weakness and tiredness. Just want to go to bed with my blankie sick.
One more day to get through of babysitting first then can do that.
Everyone saying this is just a virus, but will go see a doctor if not better soon.
The only thing that helps the sore throat is Advil. I tried all the cold meds. Nothing helps. It just grows bigger over night. It feels like the whole neck is involved too. It is horrible.
Everyone is saying two weeks so I guess I will give it till then.
Yippeeeee.

The weather has been horrible as well. Rain and wind in enormous amounts. It was so windy the other night I was worried another tree would blow down. A few branches, but nothing close to the house.

Last night I took Jack out for a quick walk and saw mom and dad owl. I guess they are deciding or maybe have decided where their nest will be already. They sat and looked at me and dad owl hooted. They are such sweet creatures. I really love seeing them every year. When I feel better I will investigate more. All I could do last night was say hi and hurry back inside.
I do hope they decided to start their new family in their favorite tree. That tree though lost two huge limbs.
 That might discourage them.
I hope not.
There is always the other tree too, but that tree is near another large pine tree that lost several large limbs. So I guess I have to wait and see. Either way I know they are together and well. It was so good to see them together again and hear them again.

This morning when I let Jack out I heard the owls hooting from the front yard.
It is such a wonderful sound.
Maybe tomorrow I will feel well enough to go out and look around. I sure hope so.

One Week

It has now been one week since I got sick. I feel functional today, sort of.
It make take a few more days to feel 100%. Yesterday woke up with migraine. Was feeling terrible. Took all morning to get rid of that one.
I have had a high fever in afternoons and evenings all week. 102.9 was highest.
It basically stayed around 100-101.
This seems mostly upper respiratory and head cold.
Although had upset stomach at times.
The aches and pains part lasted a day. Over all feeling of sickness.
Several people I know had or have same thing. Including my whole family.

So today I have to get things ready for the week.
Hopefully I can do that.

Hope you are enjoying a nice Sunday.

Sick Sick and Sick

Yup we are all sick now. It makes life so fun doesn't it?
Especially when you are babysitting two sick kids and you are sick too.
Whoopie let the fun begin.
Hopefully tomorrow I will feel better.
I miss the sun.

Clean Up Continues

Busy weekend here. We managed to get all the limbs cleaned up and then another limb fell. So that has to be cleaned up today. Never a dull moment?
I had to whack the camellias back. Oh the horror of losing all those buds. 😱
There are still a lot on there though. The camellias were laying on the garden path from the heavy snow. They were 10 feet tall at least. So I shaved off some and they perked back upright.
Poor things.
Oh well.
All the daffodils were smashed as well.
There is always next year for those.
Today I have house chores to do since tomorrow the kids will be here.
The garden will have to wait till next weekend.😢
I feel like I am getting sick.
The rest of the family was sick last week.
Hopefully it doesn't stay long. I have so much to get done.

Snow Gone and Work Continues

The snow left a couple days after the storm.
We were able to work all day yesterday on the yard and get the huge branch removed from arbor.
It was a total loss. I ordered a new one.
That wasn't a big deal compared to other people in the area.
Some lost their homes and cars. Trees are down all over town.
Power was out for several days for my daughter and her family.
They are all sick colds.
So I feel lucky that only my arbor was destroyed.
I feel bad even mentioning it. But that is all that happened here as far as damage goes.
The hedge took a hit too, but it will grow back. It needed a good trimming.

The trees are a mess though. It would take six months of working everyday cutting trees up to clear all the mess. Needless to say we will all have plenty of firewood for the next ten years.

We talked to a lady last night at dinner that had a tree come through her roof. I felt so bad for her. She said she was o.k. She had insurance and no one was hurt. She showed us pictures of the damage. I feel so lucky. I won't complain anymore about my little snow damage here.

There is story after story like that in our local news. It is the second disaster in six months. Last summer was the fire. This could be worse because it happened to the whole area.

I am not sure about loss of human life, but there was a pregnant cow and a calf from another cow that were crushed when a tree fell on them here on the ranch. So much tragedy and loss.
Spring can't come soon enough.

Storm Pictures On The Ranch

The water is raging. We are suppose to get a bunch of rain. Mix that with the 8 inches or more snow we got here and that will be a disaster in itself.
My daughter lives across town she had 14 inches of snow.

Ugh Snow

It came.
I lost my new arbor to a falling tree branch. Crushed it. 😭
Many fallen branches all over the place. Going to take a while to get things cleaned up.
I measured about 7 inches. Not sure what the final measurement was.
It snowed all night here. We usually get a couple inches at the most. Nothing like this.
Pretty?
You can be the judge.

My crushed arbor

Butterfly garden lost a huge tree.

A iris that thinks it is spring?

Go away snow and don't come back till you can play nice.

Thinking of Sunny Days

Aren't we all?
It is cold here and going to rain again. I love the rain, but I am missing the sun.
I long to get outside and work in the garden.
Actually took a stroll along the paths and a lot is growing again. That is a good sign that Spring is near.
I can't wait to see the tulips and daffodils bloom in the willow tree garden.
Then of course all the other bulbs and flowers pop up and growing.
Soon, very soon.

Cold Days

It has been cold here lately. Not as cold as back east or north of us, but cold for us. Hard to get outside and do much of anything even if I wanted to.
I was looking outside yesterday and saw this fern that grows in a pot near the house. It looks pretty darn good for the frosty conditions it has to endure.

We are suppose to get more rain this weekend, although it feels like snow.
I kind of expected to wake up this morning to a blanket of white.
Nothing yet, but stay tuned as they say.

Babies

And lots of them.
It is that time of the year when new ones are popping out left and right on a daily basis.
Here is one new one just born.

So cute.

Bird of Paradise

Never has one bloomed for me after I bought the plant. It will survive for me but never rebloom. So here in the plant shed is what is happening now.
It also looks like a couple more are growing.
So excited to see this bloom(-: The shed is not heated, but it is where the well is.
So it stays around 45-50 degrees.

Snow

Don't laugh, but this was a big deal to one little 5 year old Princess.

The mountains were well covered though. It was so beautiful to see.

The Good The Bad and The Ugly

Spring has begun springing up around the garden.
I am still thinking about this sign post. It might need something else.
What do you think?

Daffodils

A Camelia that made it through the heavy rain we had this past weekend.

Some old shoes

Flowering Quince

An early blooming Iris it seems.

Flowering Lenten Rose

And now the ugly.
What was once the beautiful willow tree garden.
Soon it will be beautiful again.
