Baylee Is Home

He tolerated his procedure well and he was able to come home. He was a little groggy and in some pain, but after a doggy pain pill he felt much better. He ate his dinner and went outside to potty.  He went out  a lot since we are potty training.  At about 2am he went #2 and he was ready for bed.  His bed is in the dog crate for now because that is the easiest way to potty train supposedly.  He slept till 5:30 and then I took him outside and he did another #2!  So I guess his body functions are all working well.

We were told not to take Baylee anywhere until he has all his shots. There is a risk of getting Parvo.  He will get his next round of vaccines on the 8th.  Then a month after that he will have his final shots.  Plus rabies. I have forgotten how much goes into getting a puppy through the first few months. It's a lot to do.  Anyhow, he is doing great and he is happy and getting use to us.  We are excited to have him. ♥️

113 Degree Day

This morning I got up early and fired up the oven. Yes, I know that was a crazy idea since the outside temperature was suppose to be an oven by afternoon, but it had to be done!

It was time to bake sourdough. I know, it was the second time I baked bread this week.

I had to make a loaf for my daughter. She was making me something and I can't wait to share the finished product with you.

So I made bread and then I tried to keep cool inside the rest of the day.

We stopped at Petco to get a small play pen for Baylee for inside the house. He needs to get use to being in the house before he gets to have the run of the house. I had ordered one on Amazon, but it was not going to get here until Thursday. So I am now ready.

Tomorrow is the big day! I can't wait!

Tomorrow will be a little cooler.

I hope you are staying cool!

Another Day Another Visit

Today the Princess came with us to visit Baylee.

It was love at first sight.
Just one more day and then he will be coming home.
It was 113 degrees here today. As soon as we got home we made slushies and cooled off.
We always enjoy having the Princess visit us and today was extra special because she got to visit with Baylee too!
She is already looking forward to next weekend when she can come over.

Chillin' With Birdie

He likes me to put my hand around him so he can take a nap.  He is such a sweet bird most of the time. LOL
He says a lot of words most I don't understand. If you ask him if he wants something, he will say, "yeah." Occasionally he will say, "thank you."  He says, "go to sleep," around 8 pm. That's his normal bedtime.
He says some bad words too. He knew those when he came to live with us. His previous owner must have taught him those.  He can also whistle different tones.
He loves bathtime. He wants to be right beside anyone who is cooking. He hates the sound of plastic bags or anything plastic opening. That makes him screech. We think his former owner must have tormented him. Even the quietest opening of a plastic wrapped something will get a small screech.
He loves strawberries, almonds and sunflower seeds shelled. He loves things he is not supposed to have.  He goes crazy for icecream. Who doesn't? He isn't supposed to have that either, but I give him a tiny bite.
He is a lot of fun.
We hope he will like Baylee and they will be friends. 😁
We saw Baylee today and played ball with him. He likes tennis balls so we went and bought some. I think we are ready to welcome him home on Monday.

A New Pup For Us

It has been almost a month since Jack passed and I started looking for a new pup.

Well, I found one at Haven Humane the other day.

He has to stay at the Haven until Monday. He has to be neutered before he can be released. I am nervous about that, but I know that is how they do things. Jack was from the Haven also.

I named him Baylee.

Baylee is a beagle cross, but looks more like a terrier to me.

He is three months and one week old, so they say.

He is such a sweet pup. I can't wait to get him home.

We have been visiting him everyday so he will get to know us.  I also did that with Jack. So by the time he could come home he knew me pretty well and was not affraid.

Someone dumped him off at the dog park. How could someone do that? It seems so cruel, although I guess at least they did that and didn't let him off on a main highway.
Anyhow, if you can say a prayer for him on Monday to have a successful surgery and recovery it would be appreciated.
I can't wait for him to be with me.

Monday will be one month since Jack passed. I am thinking Jack had a paw in finding Baylee for me because he knows how hard that day is going to be for me. I still miss Jack so much, but I know he is in a better place and enjoying himself free of any pain.
I know Baylee will bring us much joy and love in the years to come.

Paulie Is On His Own

I let Paulie go in the bathtub pond.

He looked pretty happy, although a little confused. The bathtub seemed the safest place to put him to start with. It's big and has numerous water plants to shade him and keep him hidden.
I haven't seen any snakes in that bathtub. The other ponds are close to the ground or ground level and two ponds have four other bullfrogs that live there.
He may not be welcome. So starting in the bathtub will be good and from there, he can decide when he is older.  I will miss seeing Paulie every day on the kitchen counter in his tub, but I know he will have a happy froggy life with plenty adventures to write home about.  Happy frog days ahead to you, Paulie ♥️

Happy Father's Day!

My Dad was the best of course.

I braved the extreme heat and made bread in honor of my Dad who loveddddddd sourdough bread!

This is for you Dad!

I hope you and Jack are enjoying your time together.

I miss you both so much!

T.G.I.F.

It was 113 degrees for a high Thursday. Today it is anyone's guess.

Flowers are hanging in there. I have no idea how though.

It is to hot to go outside.

Phone was used for pictures this time.

That's it for today. Stay cool my friend!
Next week is going to be cooler!

Thursday 6-17-21

The new fountain is up and running.

We had it up and running the next day after I got it, but with Jack's passing I never got a picture.

It is very old.

Flowers are still blooming. It is amazing considering the heat wave.

Other stuff.

Fin flowers.😁

Last but not least is the surfboard makeover.
My Husband did the makeover. I helped sand it that is about it.
We are waiting on my daughter to print out the words on her cricut machine.
Suppose to get those this weekend.
But so far I really like it.

It's not perfect. It is really old and has been around the block or two or maybe a hurricane.
Anyhow, it looks great for what I want to use it for.

Paulie

Paulie is growing by leaps and bounds.
His tail has shrunk a lot in just a few days.
I think by the weekend he should be ready to go outside in the pond.
I put a rock in his new temporary housing. He likes it a lot.
He can get out of the water a little that way.
Soon he will be hopping into the pond and be on a new adventure.
I hope he likes it there.

White Lily

We are heading into another extreme heat wave.

It is a full time job keeping the plants watered. I hope they make it.

Some saying it will be 113 degrees by the end of the week. I am hoping for less.

Ughhhhhh!

We have not had an airconditioner for a month. The part was ordered, but it is slow getting here.

We have a portable one you can move from room to room, but it doesn't cool the whole house.

So...It should be interesting as we get closer to the weekend. We made it though the last heat wave which was 110 degrees, so I think we will make it through this too.

Stay cool!

Saturday Blooms

I woke up to see Paulie finally got his front legs!

We have had him since December!

So Paulie is ready for the pond, almost.

He still has his tail.

It sure has been fun watching him grow up!
The Princess and family have had a virus (not covid) so haven't been over to see Paulie.
I am hoping she can come over soon and see him before he has to go out in the pond.

Some blooms in the garden this morning.

Since we had our hot week everything slowed down.
This past week was a major relief and is still nice outside. 70's and 80's!  Perfect weather for flowers.
Next week we will be heating up again. 106 degrees by end of week! Ugh!
It was nice while it lasted!

Wednesday

Happy Wednesday.
Nothing happening, just staying cool and getting things done.
Here are a few pictures of the beach garden and boat.
