Pre Easter Prep

Today was the day we got the Easter eggs ready for hiding.
The Princess colored them. She did  a great job.
Tomorrow I will hide them.
She is coming over around 2 to hunt for them.

It was a perfect day. Everything is looking so colorful in the yard.
I think we are ready for Easter!

Even this Garden Head Planter looks ready for the occasion.

We will be BBQ'ing and enjoying the day with the Princess and her parents.

Late Night Party Animals

They come for a visit and usually are well mannered.
This guy is the smallest one of the bunch.

There are two skunks and four raccoons. They all get along. They don't like to share, but don't rip and tear each other apart like you would think they would.
It has been a learning experience. Interesting to see what happens at night.
The cats don't seem to mind them either.

Today's Pictures

I think these signs are pretty funny.
I may be at wits end after all the Spring yard cleaning.
Seriously did every leaf in the county end up in my yard or what? Ugh!
Still more raking to do and then hopefullyyyyyy I will be caught up. (-:

Today's Garden

Things are growing fast like weeds. A lot more work needs to be done, but it is getting there.
I work on things most of the day it seems. So much to do so little time. (-:
Still a lot of snow in the mountains around us. Today's temp was 80+ degrees. So crazy compared to last week we had a fire going. Suppose to stay nice through the weekend. That will work well for me since an egg hunt is planned and Easter dinner too. Then just like that the holiday will be over and we will be looking forward to the next even which will be end of May.  Hopefully I will be more caught up on stuff by then!

Fiona is a stray I rescued along with her son Filipe.

One Sick Chick

3/24/18
My hen Molly was under the weather today, so I had to give her some tender loving care.
She had lots of treats and even a nap on my lap in the recliner.
Seriously she was near death.

She seemed dehydrated and cold. It has been cold here the last week or so.
After our little nappy she was put in a laundry basket to rest.
Not much interest in eating at all. )-:
We watched the new Hallmark movie and ate dinner.
Then it was time for her to go in her indoor cage for the night.

She seems a lot better after resting and is standing and eating/drinking.
Will see how she feels in the morning.

3/25/18 Still the same.

3/26/18 A tad better. I gave her tuna and an avocado. Plus her regular food.

3/27/18 Getting a little stronger. Besides her regular food, I gave her some cucumber chopped up .  I also dug up a dozen or so grubs up in the garden for her and she enjoyed that.

3/28/18
Walking, Eating and just about back to normal. Still staying in the house at night. I let her check out her friends, but they are still wanting to pick on her so we say so long and go off and do some more digging in the garden. I think in a few days she will be ready to go back. Or maybe she will be a house hen who knows.
I think she might be getting spoiled now.

And in bed for the night. She was worn out.
What is funny is she could easily jump out of the laundry basket, but she doesn't want to.

Name That Flower

It is a game I like to play every Spring.
Anyone know what this is?
I thought I had it written down, but nope!
It sure is pretty.

It pops up every Spring and blooms and then it is done till next year.
The green eventually dies down like a daffodil.

Sad Or Mad Rock?

Who knew rocks have their own personalities? This rock is proof.(-:
Could it be a two year old that does not get his way? Or maybe an older rock who disapproves of your ways? We may never know.

Springy

It's beginning to look a lot like Spring Time in the garden.

Rain

And more rain. Went to the creek for a short visit to see how things were going.

I thought this little wave was cool.(-:

Whirly Semps

Old whirly thing that sits on top of  buildings.
Makes a good semp planter.

Although you have to keep refilling with moss because the squirrels etc keep pulling it out.

Hippity Hoppity Easter Is On It's Way

Working like a crazy person getting ready for Spring. So much to do and so little time.
Made one thing for the Easter Egg Hunt for the Princess. She is going to crack up when she comes over on Wednesday.
I got the signs at Michaels. Hubby added a post and we screwed them on. I did spray the whole thing with a clear coat to add some protection. They won't last long in the elements, but the letters are metal so I can take off the wood and add them to another board. The top is a vintage copper toilet float.(-:
She is excited to decorate eggs and hunt for them.
I got some fun stuff to decorate them with last week. So we will have a lot of options.
I love Easter time.
The cows have been pruning my Photinas because they are near the fence. Usually they are full and look much nicer. Oh well they were due for a good pruning. As long as they stay out of the yard. (-:

Springing Up

So happy to report that the clematis I took a start from at my Mom's house, is starting to grow.
Yay!

For The Birds

Everything seems to be for the birds or the wild animals for some reason.
I keep them in my thoughts all the time.
It is cold out do the birds have enough to eat?
Top question of the morning.
I fill their feeder and they all zoom in.
After the tree was cut down I worried that the birds would be afraid to come in. Well that was not the case. I also worried that the squirrels could not zip from tree to tree.  They don't seem to care either. It seems that everyone has adapted well.
This blue Jay seems pretty happy eating all the sunflower seeds.

There are dozens of yellow finches eating away at any given time on their feeder.
That food is pricey, but I love to see them happy.
The hummingbirds are another group that seems to swarm to their feeder everyday too. In fact I have had to fill it twice a week lately. So more have shown up I guess.
Soon the Orioles will be here and I will have to get out their big orange feeder.
Interesting story about the orange feeder too. I tried different oriole feeders. They would only use the giant orange. The hummingbirds also drink from it, so I only use it now. I bought two so I could wash one while they were using the other one. They get so dirty. It holds 40oz. of sugar water. You would think that would last a long time, but I still have to fill it every few days when they are all here. I love to see them so it is worth it. They also liked the willow tree so I am not sure how they will like it now that it is gone.

Well the week is flying by at a crazy speed. Maybe it is because of the time change. I can't seem to get enough sleep.(-:
Enjoy your day!

A Rainy Walk

Almost an inch of rain last night made for a muddy walk this morning.
No complaining because I love rain.(-: Just need to dry off Jack when I get home.
He hates the rain though. It was a light sprinkle so not to bad.

Creek is up so that is good news.

And the Redbud is starting to bloom. I love the Redbud(-:
We are so lucky because Redbud is all around us here. When they are all blooming it is so beautiful and Springy.(-:

Oh and I was just informed it was Pi Day! So a very Happy Pi day to you!

Vintage Thermos Fish

Sometimes my brain works over time on weirdness. This is a result.

I saw the old thermos bottles at a thrift store and wondered what I could make out of them.
To me they looked like fish. Striper Bass of all things. So off to work we went creating these little creatures for the garden.  The fins are cut out of aluminum flashing. The eyes are black marbles. So next time you see some thermos bottles in the thrift store and wonder what you can make out of them, now you have an idea.(-:

Feeling Springy

Things are growing like crazy here.

The Japanese Maple is leafing out.

The violets are blooming all over the yard. It smells heavenly.

Even the rusty flowers are blooming.(-:
