The Sourdough Starter Is Talking and So Is the Broom

My starter has decided it is time to start using it again. I might whip up some sourdough later this week. The starter started getting really active again since the weather has changed. How does it know that? I have no clue. All Summer it just basically sat around. I feed it everyday but since the weather has changed it has started tripling in size. So I guess it is talking to me.

Speaking of talking.

Yesterday the broom was standing up all by itself. Yup you read that right. I guess someone else is also talking.

Spirits come and go around here like dust. It is hard to keep up with them.
I forgot to post a couple weeks ago about the butterfly light that turned itself on. It is battery powered, but must be turned off and on. It had never done that before or since.
Years ago I had a musical teapot that use to play by itself. It was a wind up thing so not possible to play unless you wound it. But every now and then it would play for me without winding it. In fact I rarely ever wound it. It was magical. I gave it away long ago. I wish I had kept it. )-:  Hopefully it continued to play.(-:

These things make some people leery but I rather enjoy them.

Tree Toppers

Do you have an angel, a star on top of your tree or something else?

I found this one from Balsam Hill

We have an old fashioned tree with ornaments the kids made and other ones we bought over the 36+ years. We don't have the Hallmark traditional type. One year I did all red poinsettias but no one liked it so the following year we went back to the original one. This year I wanted to get a topper for the tree. So I am shopping around. I can't decide. One year I bought a topper from Bradford Exchange. Huge piece of junk. Sent it back for a refund. It was cute in the ad but did not work. It was Disney characters on Santas sleigh. It was suppose to turn around on the top, but it never worked right. Since then have not had a topper. So this year I am shopping for one that will work for me.(-:

When I first got married we had an angel. Somehow it got broken and was never replaced. I hate when things break.

Balls

I bought this lighted ball for my daughter and she gave it back to me. No idea why just didn't want it I guess. I loved it myself and the best part was it was on clearance for 4 dollars. It is battery powered but the batteries last about three weeks. It turns off and on by itself.

I got one for myself at the time and it is still going strong too. Mine is smaller and I have it in my room. This one I put in the Memorial Room. It was formerly my daughters room.

 

 

 

I also got a witches ball to hang in the room as well. It supposedly catches evil spirits if they try to enter through the window(-: Otherwise it is just a pretty glass ball to hang.

 

I got a green one for my room.

 

   I also got a small tree of life

 

Glad the feast is done and things are all put away. Here is what it did look like before the feast began.

Now it is a hurry up rush to get all the gifts before Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving

Woke up at the crack of dawn and got to work. Had a lot to do since I had the Princess the first half of the week. We did get photos taken at the creek though so that was fun!

Dinner was yummy as usual and a lot of left overs as usual. I got most of the mess cleaned up after everyone left to go shopping. Ugh! Who shops on TDay?  I am ready for bed.

More Pictures Of Mystery Plant

It is some kind of weed that grows in the gravely rocks near the creek. Dry and no water unless it rains. It rained just before these pictures were taken.



Pretty In Pink

This pretty weed growing near the creek is just lovely. I am not sure what it is, but maybe someone will know.

It blooms here every year along the creek in the dry, rocky sandy ground. I have tried looking it up online without success.

I will see if I can get another picture of it before it expires. Then I might dig it up to see what the roots look like(-:  It must be pretty hardy.(-:

I had to use my phone because my camera was not handy.

The picture is blurry, but you can see what I am talking about. I will try to get another picture today if the rain holds up. It finally poured last night. We got over and inch of rain. We have been needing rain for a while. Although I must say that this was the best year ever for water in our lakes and streams. Even our little creek, which has dried up for the last 5 Summers, was still running all Summer this year. It was just amazing! I love when that happens!

So today more of the same. Rain and more rain. As the Princess says...The plants are so happy!

 

I have been looking for Christmas presents. Hopefully I can get all that done soon. I like to get ahead of the rush. Are you an early shopper or do you love the crowds?

I would rather stay home and order online. It is so much easier and less chaotic for me. I do not  deal with crowds well. Hubby and daughter love the thrill of all that. Running out for the Black Friday deals etc. I would rather sit at home and watch T.V. I don't feel anything is worth that! In all my adult life I have only gone one time. That was enough for me.(-:

Well it is another day filled with fun here for me. The Princess will arrive soon for the day.

I decided to spoil myself and get something I have wanted for a long time.

I love these pillows. They are a look that is very vintage, but made to order.

I just love it so much.

I looked a long time to find something handmade and not mass produced from China. I asked a few seamstress friends and they said this is a technique and not just anyone can do these pillows. So I decided it was well worth the cost. I was so happy when I opened the box. (-:

I downloaded Michael Sealey on Amazon, but you can also listen on YouTube free if you want. Kevin Stone, I had to order from the website. I have to share a funny story.  Years ago I had bought the tape from Kevin at a live performance. Well over the years I had lost it and wanted to listen again. I had to call and order a new one, which at that time only came in a CD. That's how long I have been listening. Anyhow, he himself answered the phone. I only knew this because of his voice. It was pretty awesome. He has a really nice voice. Anyhow, if you suffer from anxiety or whatever, there is something out there for you to listen to.

I have tried them for weight loss as well. The mind is a very powerful thing.

New Scentsy

My daughter had a party so of course I had to buy something right? Well I decided on this. She has the same one and it was so pretty I wanted one too. So now I have one. The only thing is I thought the colors would show on the wall, but they do not because the wax cup is on the top. It blocks the colors from going up to the ceiling. I have it sitting on my antique desk and it has a little back that sticks up so not sure if it would shine onto wall behind or not if that was not there.  I don't mind though, it is very pretty to look at.

I love things like this for a calming effect. I have two other lighted balls in my room. I found two at Hallmark on clearance and got one for my daughter and one for me. They are battery powered though. The batteries last about three weeks and then need replacing.

 

I also found another lighted ball that was bigger and also battery powered at TJMax on clearance.

You can see how it lights up the ceiling at night. They are so relaxing and pretty. I just love these.

Another thing that is nice is they have timers so you don't have to turn on or off.

Recently online there has been an ad for moon lights. I thought they were interesting. I have not bought one though.

Well the Princess will be arriving shortly for the day so I am off to get ready.
