I think this is 4th of July Rose

 

 

Very old unnamed rose I got 30 years ago from my Grandparents neighbor who was over 90 years old. She brought the original plant with her when she moved to the area. So she is always in my thoughts when I see this little beauty blooming.

So many of my plants I got from people that have since passed away.

My Great Aunt gave me a lot of what I had to start with when I moved here. She loved gardening.

I loved visiting her garden.(-:

90 Degees?

Wowzer...What happened to Spring? It was 90 today. Tomorrow it is suppose to cool down and rain. So glad to hear that. Amazing what a little heat will do to get the plants growing. Everything is really going crazy.

This is an old percolator coffee maker that was my Grandmas. (-: So fun to use things that are no longer useful for what they were made for in a different way. I think this turned out pretty cool.

 

I am looking forward to the weekend to finish up my new pathway. All the rocks look good but filling in with gravel will be better. The cooler weather will help too(-:

I enjoy making pathways even if they really have no meaning. Just a random walking area that leads no where important. It also gives me more room to put junk in. I added an old pine stump and put a bird bath on top. the two closest trees are where you walk through. To the right is an old blue bucket planted with a heuchera.  I am still deciding what to plant in the old rusty metal barrel to the side of that. This gets a bit of sun, but not much. Mostly filtered afternoon and morning sun only.
So lots of fun for me this weekend. Hope you have a fun weekend too. I will update later when I finish with the gravel!

 

Hard At Work

I got all the rocks I needed this morning and set them out for my new pathway. What a job! Now this weekend I can get some pea gravel and finish the pathway. It looks a lot better already. I love pathways.

In the end I decided to go with the black butterfly bench for the garden. I have one already and it is so nice and sturdy.

It fits the spot perfectly and I decided the two chairs and table were to much for that area. I really like the black color better anyhow. I think it blends into the garden much better.
So now I have to wait for it to arrive. In the mean time I will have a lot of stuff to keep me busy.
I have some more clean up in the front to finish up and then basically the yard is done. Ha Ha(-:
It is the area all around the yard that needs cleaning up.
Oh well that is another thing to keep me busy this Spring in between babysitting adventures!

Garden Seating

Can you have to much seating around the garden?

Do you always long for more places to park your body and admire your hard work?

How much is to much?

I cant tell.

I always desire to have more little spots to sit.

I found this adorable set online and I am loving it so much.

Of course the butterfly garden has several seats to sit on, but I am adding to that area.

I feel like another little area would be a special place to sit and reflect.

I may be getting old you think? Yup that could be it.

After a long day of working in the garden, I am always looking for a place to rest my tired bones.

Yesterday was one such day. 3 yards of bark and much digging. A new pathway, more rocks. Ah, I needed a cold drink and a place to rest.
