First Day back In The Garden

After what has seemed like years, the weather permitted me to venture out into the ravaged garden. It needs a lot of work. So I began on the tasks, one at a time. The hedge had to be pruned. It was a mess. The wind and our little snow totally knocked over my arch. It will take a few pruning's to get it back in shape. I wired it up and it does look much better.
I raked leaves for most of the afternoon. I cleaned up sticks and branches that had fallen from the trees. So much to do and so little time. I have a long way to go to get the garden ship shape, but at least I got a start.
Tomorrow it might rain. Surly by Monday it will pour again, but for just an afternoon it felt like Spring was here. I have missed the sun so much.

Number 35

It was my 35th anniversary on the 13th. I got these beautiful sunflower items from DH. He always knows the perfect thing to get me.
I am going to make a nice little area for them here when the weather is better.
The Princess was excited to be the first to sit on the bench.
Incase you wondered all items were purchased at Orchard Supply Hardware.
I know my poor garden is a mess. Please excuse the leaves and debris. We have been hammered with storms for over a month. No time for outside work.

I baked today too. Bread seems to be pretty much the same as last week so at least I am getting consistent.

Today's Sourdough Bread

Hanging out waiting on reports all day due to flooding of the areas around here.
I baked bread to pass the time.

Enjoying The Weather

Hanging out inside, watching the storms come and go.
Thinking about how beautiful everything will be this Spring!
Bulbs are already poking through the soil.
It is going to be a great Summer!
For now though, I will stay inside where it is warm.

Oh almost forgot to share my latest Sourdough creations.
I may be getting closer to what I am looking for.

At the least, I think I have figured out how to get it to rise and bake correctly. The scoring is about figured out too. I think this time the reason it was all messed up was because I covered in plastic wrap to rise and I forgot I should not do that. So, when I pulled off the plastic wrap, it made the bread dough rough. If rough is what you are looking for then by all means do that. I am looking for a more smooth and even skin. Next time I will remember not to cover with plastic wrap until I put in fridge. I don't like how the flour looks on the bread if you cover it lightly to let it rise. A lot of people do that and it is great for them, but I like it better plain. The whole key is not to compromise the skin. I can do that next time!(-:

Drought?

Major flooding going on in Northern California.
Time to call an end to the Drought?
I think so.
Ugh!
Our creek this morning.

Phil

Well the rodent saw his shadow. So I guess we are stuck for another 6 weeks? Oh wait...Spring starts in 7 weeks give or take a couple days. I guess he is right then?
