Sourdough Bread Making

I am trying a new bread making skill. Sourdough bread. I got the starter from my daughter. Here is what transpired on the SECOND go around. The first one was a foop. The funny thing is I worked at a bakery when I was a teenager where they made sourdough French bread. I actually did not bake there though. I was a bread bagger. I should get points for working there at least right?

And the finished yummy bread...Dedicated to my Dad who loved sourdough bread so much. I wish he was here to enjoy it!!!!

Crabtastic

I got several things for my beach/boat garden for my Birthday. One item came painted in several colors which I was not to fond of. I knew I could make it look more to my liking. It was a crab wall hanging made of wood.
I should have taken a before picture, but I didn't. Here is what it looks like now.
I love to paint things(-: I think Crabby will look awesome in the beach garden next Summer!

We are getting a lot of rain here. The boat may just come in handy. (-:

New Tractor

Well new to me that is.
My brother gave it to me for my Birthday(-: It is a little small for big jobs on the ranch, but will work perfectly in the garden holding a potted plant.
I am going to wire the peddles on somehow.
Believe it or not someone threw it away in the recycling bin. It always amazes me that people do that.

To me it is perfect and I plan to get a few pictures of The Princess sitting on it in the near future. I bet some kid had a lot of fun peddling around on this little thing.

Don't mind the total mess of a garden that once was. It has been raining a lot and I have yet to get the garden cleaned up.(-:

Road Trip and New Planters

It was a dark and stormy day...So we took a drive south.

This is a large hanging tentacle planter I picked up at a nursery in Chico, CA
I wanted a hanging one since I got the wall hanging one last fall.
DH picked out the color. (-: It is a darker purple in person.
One is never enough.
Yup I am obsessed with these planters. No idea why.
The smaller planter is the one I got last fall. I decided adding another larger one was a good idea.
The large one has bumps on it. Not sure you can see that in the picture, but they actually stick out.

These are totally cool planters. I am sure I should have got another one in different color. I will have to make another trip down there in the Spring.
I still need some plants for them, but will wait for Spring to get something.

Now I am off to order something for my boat at Carruth Studios.
Have a great Sunday(-:

55

It is the double 5's for me next week and to start off the celebrating I bought some new boots.
I thought a while of course before making this purchase, but in the end I just clicked on the add to cart button and poof, it was a done deal.
They arrived yesterday and I can't seem to take them off. I think DH thought I would sleep in them last night, but of course that would be silly right? (-:
So of course you are thinking what do these super, awesome boots look like...Well without further ado here you go.

They are like a fine leather glove. I love them so much and I am sure you can see why I love them. The colors are outstanding and cheerful, like a garden in full bloom.

When I opened the box they arrived in, the air was filled with that deep leather smell. Of course I had to take a deep breath. Oh how I love that smell.
It reminds me of horses and riding and childhood fun. I do miss my horses.

But for now, I will savor the smell of cows.

Happy Saturday!

Rainnnnnnnnn

So happy to report that we are being soaked! I am a happy gardener. More storms headed our way too! Going to be a great gardening year at this rate.  Hard to believe this creek was bone dry for months.

This pond is below the house. It is plumb full now. It was a mere mud puddle before the storms came.

And you are probably wondering how the boat is holding up? The answer is better then I thought. The water drains right out of it. I am impressed with that actually, because it was just kind of thrown in there.
Every few days I go out and replace the batteries in the solar light so it will continue to light up at night. It is really fun to look out and see the boat lit up.
I did have to buy a battery charger since the sun is rare these days. It was well worth the extra cash. Such a small price to pay for so many hours of enjoyment.
