Cleaning Day

One of the ponds needed to be cleaned out of leaves and dead plants. I found these three hanging out. There are several more of them but they hopped out before I started unloading stuff.
The squirrel was watching me. I think he was worried I would find his stash.
To late! That is going next, squirrel friend. I need to make room for a wheelbarrow of blooms.

Springing Along

Here is what's happening today.
Forgot the name of this Lily.

Paprika Heuchera

Hens and Chicks in an old coffee pot.

The moon gazing ball holder. It turned into a planter. I put the bunny there since it was the season and all. He might stay there for a while.

Another Paprika Heuchera and some Sempervivums

New Rock Face. I am going back to get the other one this weekend. It has both eyes open. I thought I already had that one but I did not.
And what photo session would be complete without a few Princess photos? She is wearing her Easter Bunny outfit early.(-:

Her favorite place happens to be in the boat.(-: We end up there each time we go outside. It is my favorite place too. (-:

Another Inch of Rain!

We were hammered with rain again yesterday. We also had a lot of thunder and lightening.
It was the perfect day(-: I just keep looking outside and watching my plants grow inches a day. It is going to be a fabulous season!

Spring Is Here!

I love Carruth Studios. They have the cutest things. They are expensive but they will last forever. (-:

Remembering Quackers

Quackers was my beautiful white duck.
She laid many eggs. I saved them all and have enjoyed using them over the years.
One day I found her dead. No idea what happened to her. I really miss her a lot. She was a very sweet bird. Anyhow, she lives on in my crafts and will always be remembered.
I made an Easter garland for my tree from her eggs.
I also made these place holders for this years Easter table. I ordered little saucers for the terra cotta pots. They are not here yet. They better hurry up!!! Anyhow, this is what they look like. There is also a yellow one hidden behind the pink one.  They were fun to make. I don't like the name tags that well, but I didn't have time to do anything else. I might change those later. I think a nicer paper would look better. I need to go look for something more Easter-y. The eggs slip off the top so I can redo if I want.

I have always loved rabbits. Peter Rabbit being my favorite of course.
Over the years I have made many rabbit dolls and created things to go with them. So it is no wonder I have fallen in love with rabbit dinnerware.
It just so happens to coincide with Easter. That could be a coincidence or not.
I decided this year I needed some Easter dishes for the table.
I found these beautiful rabbit plates, cabbage leaf plates and bowls.

I also ordered some cabbage plates that are not here yet.

Now, if only I can get my sourdough bread to look like the pictures on the internet I will be all set!!!!! Ha! Ha!
I can't wait for the Princess to have her egg hunt!
Do you feel like the year is flying by already and it really has just started?
Me too! It is almost April! That's crazy!

Fish Out of Water

It was a casualty of the storm and flooding. The Princess and I found it on our walk today. Washed out into the field from the rushing water.

Owl Update

The Great Horned Owls are still hanging on. I wondered how they would do after that huge gully washer the other night but I checked on them the next morning, and yup Momma was still there.
The eggs are due to hatch this week.
Can you see her golden eyes?
I love this time of the year when the owls are nesting. I feel like they are part of my family. They are out back and I can visit them whenever I want. They nest here every year. It is such a joy to see them.

Unbelievable Amount of Rain

We had 5 inches over the weekend here at the ranch. That is a record for us. Everything was flooded. It was so amazing. We couldn't believe how much water there was.

Things are getting back to normal again. My son graded the road so it is all fixed up and drive-able again. Another storm is coming this weekend. More rain means we will have full reservoirs for the summer! So excited!

Splinter is the new addition to the boat garden.
We went to the home show over the weekend and a nice young man was making beautiful carved wood items. I totally fell in love with Splinter and had to take him home to the beach.

Rain...Wind and More Rain On The Way

Yesterday for the first time the road completely flooded. It was amazing. I would say El Nino has really come through for us folks here in California! I am excited that we will have full lakes and reservoirs once again! I can't wait till Spring arrives!

This is from this morning. Water has gone down and road is drive able again. Although later today it is suppose to rain hard again, so the road might be flooded again.

Soon enough it will be hot and dry here. I am enjoying all this water!

Spring Cleaning Cinder Princess

The Princess decided the wood stove ashes needed cleaning out while Nama was washing dishes. She is a rather fast worker. 30 years ago Nama would have been pretty upset. But in her old age, Nama laughed and gave the Princess a bath.

I have not seen any like this before. Growing in the oak leaves/bark.
