Merry Christmas

Not much happening in the garden but we did get about 5 inches of rain lately. We are all very happy. Today was clear and beautiful so I took the Princess out for a photo shoot.(-:

Happy Thanksgiving

Photos with the Princess and her good friend Ellie today in her new Thanksgiving outfit.
Outfit is from Kohl's incase you wondered.
She loves Elephants and has quite the collection now.
I am so thankful that I have the chance to be a Grandmother to the most adorable, sweet, loving, Princess. She is my world.

Boat Inside Finished

Left Side

Another Left Side

Right Side Updated

Finished for now(-: It is after all the middle of November. I am still outside playing on the beach with the boat etc. I absolutely think this is the best part of my garden. I am really having fun with it. I doubt I will be climbing into the boat when I am elderly but for now it's pretty fun.

The old chippy paint is one of my favorite parts of the interior. It is so flakey and rustic with holes and cut outs that once supplied something that the boat used. The "Cabin" is very small. The door is very narrow. So it is hard to imagine a large person climbing in and out of this "Cabin" very often. My husband who is 6'4" has not attempted it yet. He peers through the window to see what I have done. (-: I don't think he would be able to get out if he got in there. That might be fun to see.(-:

The boat has seating around the interior and it probably was a shelter when it was raining or perhaps a place to sleep. I think it would be a fun place for a camp out if the boat didn't sit at an angle.

The Mermaid and the Starfish hanging I purchased from Carruth Studio. I love them. I think they add just the right bit of humor to this whole Shindig! After all, it is all in fun.(-: I love things that make me laugh. I try to fill my whole yard with those such items. Tucked here and there to make smiles appear as you walk by.

We have rain here. So needed and so glad to see it falling! I can't believe how dry it is. We need  a lot of rain and hopefully El Nino will provide for us this year!
Enjoy your week!

Coyotes

Last week Jack was bit by a coyote.
They have been coming in closer and closer.
There is no water around so they are looking at my yard for a drink.
Jack doesn't like coyotes so of course he barks at them.
It was a very scary couple of minutes. Glad he was o.k.
He required antibiotics, but he was up to date on rabies.
Poor Jack. It was a long few days of him feeling sad.  He received a lot of T. L. C. of course(-:

The other thing we have had problems with is a bobcat. It has now killed three chickens. )-: The pen was reinforced so hopefully it can not get in. Not a great week here. Hopefully next week will be better(-:

Cover Girl

Had you going didn't I?
Well, I kinda am in a round about way(-:
I have never been on the cover of a magazine before. But now I have and I am super happy!
I love all the Carruth Studio creations. I think they add so much character to the garden. I am going to get a couple items for the inside of the boat now(-:

The Pumpkin Princess

I got the Princess a new outfit for Halloween. She loves Minnie and Mickey of course. The boots were to cute to pass up.(-: She had a fun day getting pumpkins out of the garden at my Dads. His girlfriend still has a small veggie garden and grew some pumpkins for the special day.

And yes I am now in the spirit of the season. We will go to the Princesses house for the big event. It will be fun to see all the little ones trick or treating!
Last but not least by any means is this old shopping cart someone gave me. It is rusty but not rusty enough for me just yet so I leave it out behind the shed. I pulled it out and thought it would make a nice picture with The Pumpkin Princess!
Happy Halloween!!!!

Hoping For Rain

As you can see all around us is dry, dead and in need of some wet stuff. The cows will be coming soon. I hope we get some rain so they will have grass to eat. We are heading into November and it still feels like July.

Boat Garden

Last week I got the fishing net put on the boat. I ordered another one for the back of the boat. It should be here in a few days. I like how that looks.
The chairs need a new coat of paint but other then that this area is pretty well finished.

The inside again. I really like how that turned out. The inside is so primitive and peely-paint looking. The wood is worn by years of water and wear. It is so rustic and I love it so much that way! I could never create something so perfect.

Looking Inside The Boat

There are two cupboard storage type things inside the "cabin" of the boat.
They have an open down door on the top. Neither side works well. I screwed the one side closed because it was falling apart. That one I sat a spider plant on and the other side I decorated with shells etc. I hung the anchor mosaic above that little cupboard. This is what it looks like. I left everything old and chippy painted like it was when I got it. That is the idea. This is suppose to be a shipwreck.

Mosaic Anchor

I bought a wood anchor and mosaicked the mirrors on. Painted the wood turquoise color. The sun was not shining so the mirrors look flat but in the sunlight it really sparkles(-:
The lifeguard sign I got on Amazon.

A new picture to share. I have some new visitors to the garden. Can you see them?(-:

More Work On Boat Garden

Don't mind the cockeyed pots. I know some people will go nuts with that one. I am one of those people(-:  I just threw those plants in there to see what it would look like(-:

I have more tweaking to do with the creek bed, but I like it for the most part.
Now for the bridge to be built. The bridge builder and I are having a go around with the design. I have my idea he has his. But you all know I will win in the end. (-: I want a bigger version then he wants. I think I have convinced him though, the bigger one would look better(-:

I need to get another yard of sand. I thought I was done. Ha Ha! I may never be done with the sand part either. I also need more small rocks to put around the ponds. I am having fun playing in the sand though. I can almost believe I am at the beach! In a ship wreck..
on a deserted island(-:

Oh and we had rain yesterday! Just a light sprinkle, but it was so nice. My faithful helper Captain Jack ran inside the house though. He hates getting wet. )-:

I am happy Fall is here, but I am also sad that Summer is over. I won't be able to work outside much longer. That is if El Nino actually does arrive.
I guess I can sit in my chair and pretend we are having a hurricane at the beach (-:
It should be an interesting Winter.
The hatches will have to be batten down for sure.

I know I need more shells. I have to work on that(-:

Oh well....Here is the newest picture! Enjoy your Friday.

Sneek Peek

The big project is rolling along enough to give a sneak peek. I think it will be completed this weekend. If I can keep moving. 3 yards of sand and more to unload but it is shaping up. It has been a really fun and exciting project to say the least. I am really enjoying it(-:
There is more to do but at least I can share this little snippet of what is really going on. Have a Happy Hump Day!

Tentacle Planter

This is what I got. Love it! Arrived safely packaged in the mail. I was even able to choose the one I wanted. What more can you ask for? (-: Super nice place to shop. The Potted Store I would recommend it and they are not even paying me to say it! (-:
Now to get it planted and hung up(-:

Today is, work on the big project day. It will require a few yards of sand. So I am off to the local supply yard to get some sand. Can hardly wait to get it done.  I am sure by now you have figured it has something to do with an ocean or beach theme or both? Well that is a good guess.

New

This is one of the things I got with the gift certificate from Carruth Studios.
It is a fish head.
I think it is pretty funny. DH welded a rod/stand for the fish head to sit on. I glued him onto the platform. Kinda looks like he is looking out of the water that way.
You may remember I got this old cauldron from my brother and we found the pump on Craigslist.
There is a fisherman standing next to the cauldron too. You can see the fish hook in the background.
Since the fish is the center of attention I didn't photograph the fisherman.

I also got two new sun/moon faces. They look nice on the wall with all my other ones.

Also worked on getting the big project closer to being done. A lot more work for that to be finished though. Might run out of time this Fall. But for sure next Spring I will finish it up. You will have to keep checking back if you want to see it.(-:

And last but certainly not least I got a butterfly house put up.

I have never had one before.  Shortly after that a butterfly flew in the yard. I ran to get my camera and grabbed the little one. It does not take the best pictures but here is the butterfly.

Do you think it is a Monarch? I was so excited to see it. It flew around the yard for a while then sailed off on a new adventure. I have never seen this type of butterfly here before.
So I guess if you build it they will come. I should have done that sooner.
Have a great week!

Obsession With Head Planters

Does anyone else have an obsession with a garden item? Besides plants of course. (-:
I just seem to always look for these head planters and faces for the garden. Anything with a face draws me in.

Last weekend I found some cool Tentacle planters.

        Tentacle Planter

I loved them, but passed them up. Then after I got home I went on line and found some. Of course I broke down and ordered one. I will put it on the wall by the sink fountain.
My other order came in too and I am working on a new project for one item. I will post a picture when it is finished. If it works out, it is going to be priceless.

Rain

Sprinkles fell yesterday. It was a nice thing to see. Although we need buckets and buckets.
More rain could fall today. I won't hold my breath.

New Sun Face

Took a little jaunt south of town. Just an hour away. I had read online about a little craft fair and thought I should go see what they had. Nothing at the craft fair I wanted, but I did find this at a local nursery. I am addicted to these faces. This one was made by a local artist. It is cement so it is pretty heavy.
I also got a few plants, and an air plant to try. It looks cool in my head planter. Had a fun time. Just what this gardener needed(-: Hope you have a great week!
