For the last couple of days I have been pleasantly surprised when I went to collect the eggs. The new hens are finally laying eggs! I am so happy!

These little eggs maybe small but look what I found inside of one of them...

A double yoke is always fun to find when an egg is cracked open.

Yippee, new egg laying chicks! Double yokes are fun to find kind of like cracking open the Golden Egg at Easter... I had some Brown Eggs from the local Amish farms for breakfast. Love those rich golden yokes....

So sorry to hear you had to say goodbye to your furbaby. It is not fair that they cross over the Rainbow Bridge so soon. Know your baby had a wonderful life with you...

Hi Cindee, when my hens began laying first (last year)I often found double yolks but not for the last few months so maybe it is something young hens do?! Enjoy.

Hi Cindee! it's nice to see you back blogging actively again. Skeeter was just telling me how she missed you! So happy to see your hens are laying. I am thinking very seriously of getting 3 or 4 myself. Lovely fresh eggs are the draw for sure! Yum on your double yolk!

Enjoy those fresh eggs knowing they haven't been manufactured in an industrial chicken factory.

We buy our eggs from a co-worker of my wife. I've never seen a double yolk from beginner layers. The doubles are always in the extra jumbo size eggs that no egg carton can contain :)
