Bloomin' Ivy

I saw this this morning. I have never seen the ivy bloom before or whatever it is doing. Looks pretty cool don't you think? (-:
Temperatures still in the 90's here. Saturday they say 100+. I am thinking a lake trip is in the works.(-:
I really want to see some signs of Fall here. I might get some decorations out today and get it started(-:
Hope you all have a fabulous Wednesday!!!!(-:

I'm sorry. We're having cooler temps here. I know that doesn't help any! It is a pretty plant.

Cindee, I am sorry you have had such miserably high temperatures this summer. I really suffer with heat and humidity, so I feel empathy and sympathy for others having to deal with it. I just have to head for the cooler basement and things in the garden go wild, ugh!! I have seen English Ivy bloom, but it almost always blooms when it is climbing a vertical surface. Yours appears to be blooming up through a hellebore, or is it a hellebore getting ready to bloom. Do you have a hellebore? That foliage sure does look like Bear Claw H.

Hi Barbee,
The ivy is climbing up my oak tree in the front. SO I guess that is why its blooming? That is interesting.(-: It does look pretty though(-:
I don't have hellebore.

Yes, that is why it is blooming. As long as it grows on a horizontal surface like the ground, it stays in its juvenile stage. Once it finds something to climb, it matures to the adult stage, the leaves become more rounded, and it blooms. Birds eat the seed containing berries and spread it everywhere, and that is why it is on the federal and some states' invasive plant lists. It is impossible to get rid of it. I have fought it for 20 years. When we moved here the whole end of the house was covered with it and it was blooming, plus trees were covered. It is not easy to handle and control.
