Birds and Blooms

I put the big orange feeder up because the Orioles also like to drink from the feeder. They like to stand on the perches. The little hummingbird feeders are not strong enough for the big birds. They are there all the time but none in the pictures today.

A couple of roses blooming!
Josephs Coat

I can't remember what these two are.

Joseph's coat is beautiful! I've seen one humming bird this season for like... 2 seconds. LOL--Randy

Nice capture on the hummers! I want to hang my feeders but the rain keeps washing them out! Soon the sun has to shine, right! gail

Hi Tina,
That orange feeder holds 5 cups of sugar water. The Orioles drink a lot more then the little hummingbirds do(-: I bought two Oriole/Hummingbird feeders and they like the big orange the best(-:
Hi Randy,
I really like the Josephs Coat Rose too. The different colors on the same bush makes it very unique! We have a couple hummingbirds here all year long so I leave out the feeder for them. In the Spring I will have 30-40 hummingbirds here for a while!

Hi Gail,
Yes the sun will shine there soon I'm sure! I have had rain here and am really enjoying it(-: I wish it would rain for a month(-: We barely had any rain this past winter.

Cute orange feeder! :) Your roses are gorgeous right now. Mine are just starting open and the rain is making them look terrible. :(

Love the hummingbird laying ont he feeder. I've read that some don't have feet. I wonder if that is true.

Hi perennial gardener,
Thanks(-: It has rained a lot lately so they are going to be pretty messed up later. But I am glad its raining(-:

Hi My Little Family,
I have never seen a hummingbird without feed/legs. They all have them that I know of(-: That hummingbird is perched on the feeder stand. You just can't see his tiny feet.

Your Orange feeder is interesting...fun to see the hummingbirds. I'm sure the orioles appreciate your consideration. We will have to consider installing some other bird feeders.

Love that big orange. It wouldn't last here. The sun would fade it terrible. I have a bottle one that I like. I can put it in the dishwasher to clean. I love to watch the hummers.
It's getting a bit dry here. Haven't had any rain since 2nd week in April when we had that storm.
My poor roses have the black spot & powdery mildew. Will have to spray.

Hi Chris,
We really enjoy watching the Orioles. They don't stay here all year so I don't put out the big feeder until I see them!

Hi Lola,
I know how that is when there is no rain. I am really enjoying ours.
The big orange feeder is mostly in the shade but also I don't leave it out all year because the Orioles won't stay all year here.

That is the most fun hummingbird feeder I've seen. It looks new too. Those hummers are so sweet and I thought they were gentle until I saw a special on them last night. They are territorial aren't they?

I love the orange feeder! My favorite rose is joseph's coat, mine did not survive one winter several years ago, enjoy it!

Hi flowergarden girl,
The hummingbirds I have here seem to be pretty friendly. I have never had a problem with them being aggressive. Maybe they are in their own little world cussing each other out...(-: I have had that orange feeder for a couple of years(-:

Hi Kathi,
Thanks(-: I do enjoy the Josephs Coat a lot. It has been there for years and seems to do just fine. Thanks for stopping by(-:
