Hopefully he or she will be back soon so I can take a group photo(-: Whenever I go outside in the evening they whooooo whoooo to me. I guess they are looking for a handout. Probably looking for my rabbit. I hope Mz Rabbit is hiding in the brush.

I spotted your Hooter! What a treat to have them visit your garden. :)

I have them nested in my trees also, they are very special to me. Growing up my parents rehabilitated wildlife, we had an owl "Hoot" that was unable to hunt because of his injuries so we were permitted to care for him. This was a wonderful, rare experience. Every night, all year long they come out and they don't seem to be bothered by my presence. I hope when I move all the critters will show up again. ~ Jacque

We hear one in a nearby tree each evening in the summer. For some reason, the sound always reminds me of my childhood.

Great pix. Not long ago I was lying in bed & heard an owl. Reminded me of when I was a kid. The sound got farther away so I guess it was on the move.

Hi perenialgardener,
The owls are fun to listen to. Not sure on how fun it would be if they ate one of my chickens though.

Hi Jacque,
Last year I had a little owl nesting in a bird house. I forgot what kind it was. I think it was a barn owl. It was really cute. I am sure the critters will show up wherever you move. Critters know when they find a good place to live(-:

Hi Renna,
I really like the owl sounds. It is very relaxing.

Hi Meadowview Thymes,
It was pretty far up in the pine tree so its not a great picture but at least I got one(-:

Hi Brenda,
The owl blends in really well with the wood on the tree(-:

Hi Lola,
They do seem to move around. Last night the owls were in a different area. I didn't hear them until I took the dogs for their nightly walk.

I hear them in our woods but never lucky enough to spot them. We see the hawks mating all the time and they are loud when courting in the air while circling...

So cool. There's a pair of horned owls in the neighborhood park that everyone has adopted. I haven't seen them myself, but then I'm cozy at home at night.
