Snake sssssssssssssss

Last night my son got home and woke me up. He said come see this big weird snake in the road. He grabbed the camera and we went out to look at it. Its a California King Snake. They are good for getting little rodents etc. Jacks competition. He won't be happy and the snake won't either if he finds him. Anyhow it slithered away into the night so I'm sure it will be back again.

Oh thank goodness I do not have those here. I could not handle it!

Pretty King snake. We probably have the same types of snakes...mostly "good" ones, but rattlers, too. Fortunately, haven't found too many of the poisonous variety in my yard. (I worry about my dog.) We did have huge snake on the back patio a few months ago. He was patterned like a rattler, diamond-shaped head, but coloring was more yellowish. A boa of some sort? We think he might have been someone's escaped pet.

Yes we do have rattlesnakes. And tons of them. I just try not to see them...lol One time I was working in the garden and I felt something slither across my foot. I was thinking a garter snake or something...Nope it was a baby rattlesnake. I had on my flip flops of course so it was quite and experience!!!! We have those red ribbon/racer snakes and garter snakes too. The ones that look like rattlesnakes but without the rattles and a regular shaped head not the triangle shape.
Major yikes Lin for you to see that on your patio...pet or not!!!!

I appreciate them and know we need them--but I am afraid of them. They are unpredictable. I like to know which way something is going. Looks like you got pretty close with the camera?

Anna we were up close and personal with that snake...about a foot away..lol Not scared of those little harmless things. Rattlesnakes are a different story...
