Jack caught this and did not kill it. It was a team effort I'm sure between the cat and Jack. I did not see any other quail anywhere in the yard. Anyhow the little baby quail now has a new home in the incubator in the house. How many Motherless animals have I raised you ask? To many to count. It should be ready to release in 6 weeks.

OH! That's such an adorable critter...and a lucky one! First it didn't get killed and now it's got you! I'll keep my fingers crossed for it.
When I try to respond to your e-mails...it bounces back!
What a dear little handful of fluff! I hope s/he does well. :)
It's good that Jack was gentle enough not to harm the chick. It's also fortunate that you are setup to take care of it.
It is strange Jack didn't chomp it down. He usually kills everything. So it was a miracle. I guess just was meant to be(-:
Isn't it cute!? Good that you can take care of it! Will you be able to release him back into the wild without a problem? How long will you keep him?
I did raise some last year and sucessfully released them after about a month.
